It doesn’t just deflect, it has a electro all-axis gyro…
Again that doesnt give it the ability to deflect 50 degrees off the rails, your example doesnt do half as much deflection as ingame. And its not possible for production iglas to do so. This has been discussed to death already.
The moderating hand of offtopic has arrived
Nato doesnt use spaas. For good reason too.
Keep it on topic. The thread was massively derailed and honestly it would have been easier to nuke it but well… here we are. DO NOT talk about nerfs to shells, ICBMs, tsunamis and what not in a AA thread, It is pretty clear.
@dotSHINI Done so.
Thanks for not nuking it.
Which is why the Pantsir should have never been added in the first place as there was never going to be a counterpart to it, and it was never even needed until they heavily nerfed the existing Russia SPAA missile performance to justify the addition.
Now they are the only nation that control the skies and the only counter to a lot of the long range CAS that Russia also has, if they’re not on your side you’re screwed.
And aside from the plethora of SPAA Russia has and continues to get, we get this crazy missile performance on top.
I mean, i dont fully agree, adding something like agm 88 harm could be a good way to assymetrically balance the air superiority, especially when we consider that in terms of aircraft missiles nato is always going to have an advantage at top tier.
Meanwhile we’re now six (6) years deep in M247’s domination as the only (now without VEAK) HE-VT slinger that can actually have a chance of countering properly played helicopters.
M247 is insanely good man.
Even crazier that it gets stealth belts that make it far superior to other SPAA, only matched by the 2S38 that also doesn’t have tracers and HE-VT.
More vehicles like that would help a lot to deal with the air threat without dedicated SPAA having to sit around waiting for targets.
It doesn’t however resolve the massive gaps and balance issues for SPAA at the top however.
Yeah, well… if things go off the rails again we may just have to nuke it…
So, for those wanting to discuss other things, always best to just use existing topics or start a new one if there is not one already as MightyBaozi has already hinted at… another option is to just take things to PM and discuss it so it does not disrupt the thread
Members do enjoy discussing and debating topics without them getting cluttered with other things…
So, just keep it on Topic! Thank guys!
:^D
To this day, I still can’t fathom why Pantsir was added. It’d be one thing if there was no other choice, but the model for Tor already existed.
Why did they not just give RU+CN Tor at the same time? Why did they just allow RU, and RU alone, to make a generational leap in capability over everyone else?, as you said, knowing no one had a counterpart. Also, why did they condemn the Russian Tor to either not being added, or added obsolete later? Why skip over such an iconic system in its home nations tree?
No matter what angle you look at it from, it makes no sense. IMO it’s the single worst addition the snail has ever made. Ever since, we’ve been getting CAS centric updates with Pantsir as the barometer for how potent CAS need’s to be, which has only made the 9/10 countries without Pantsir suffer more and more. Absolute balancing disasterclass.
The 2S6 wasn’t even that bad until they went out of their way to make it bad, and then they acted as if it was so necessary for Russia to get the Pantsir.
Because yes, the Tor was there and 100% should have been what went to Russia instead, and if that wasn’t enough they just needed to fine tune the missile performance to be competitive.
This was like saying Russia’s sword isn’t as sharp as that of others, which was a false statement to begin with, so we’ll give them an assault rifle to compensate.
Guess which one is the Pantsir
The light blue one is the Tor, but that wasn’t enough so we needed to go beyond that.
It was “fine” when soviets had the weakest fixed wing CAS in the game. So the balance was:
Weak CAS but strong SPAA vs Strong CAS but weak SPAA.
But now the soviets have some of the strongest CAS and nothing has changed on the SPAA front
But we shouldnt have to be waiting this long for better or even anything at all for top tier like with Israel
I still remember, right after Pantsir was announced, they made that blog post to ‘address balance concerns’, which included a graph just like that (or is that the graph from the post?).
Felt like being gaslit. Telling us it would be fine in the exact same breath as categorically showing us just how not fine it would be lol.
And yeah, Tunguska being hit by the nerf bat right before felt a little too convenient. But even a Nerfed Tunguska was still miles better than anything countries like Italy, Israel or Japan have even to this day. It’s not like they were unreasonably suffering beyond all others to the extent they needed such a broken solution. And again, even if they were. Why not just give them Tor which, without Pantsir, would still arguably be the best SPAA in its own right lol.
Ugh I get rattled every time I go into this topic. Triggers me lmao.
Personally, I find it hilarious that people want SPAA to be nerfed, and put all their energy into asking for a nerf to the only somewhat decent SPAA, instead of asking for SPAA buffs/new SPAA.
With how it is currently, all nations should have an SPAA equivalent or better than the pantsir.
They realized how insane it was that they went out of their way to nerf all SPAA and be like: Look how bad it is, Russia really needs another one that is twice as good as anything else!!
Because the shitty situation with SPAA doesn’t justify blatant preferential treatment, two wrongs don’t make a right.
I completely see where you’re coming from, but even if they maintained this status quo, the subsequent CAS arms race that Pantsir created has caused unreasonable suffering to everyone.
We even see it now with Tornado / Brimstones. Even in their nerfed state, Brimstones are still un-counterable to 9/10 countries in game. It’s solely because Pantsir exists that they need to be even more powerful, otherwise the perception (and often felt reality) is that they’re DOA.
I can’t point to a single other vehicle in the history of WT which has directly caused such a spiral in overall gameplay health at top tier, to the severity that Pantsir has.
