Do not question the snail’s genius mapmaking design, we simply cannot comprehend how smart these barriers are

Seems like Sinai in assault mode have been removed from map rotation lol I hope it stay gone for such a rubbish map.

Japan appears to be heavily pushed instead, I keep getting it so much that I can barely stand to play it.

I wish they removed Mozdok from assault instead of Sinai.

Why? Like every Assault map, it’s depending on useful AA…unless people actually enjoy being blown up and having to respawn in full view of every tank on the map. That’s the first rule of Ground Assault: only the circus ignores bot planes. Groups which do anyway need inordinate amounts of luck to muddle through.

Find a good position, be aware of LOS to bot spawns. It took me a moment to grasp where not to stand when the A2 and/or E2 spawns are populated.

Sinai (and to a lesser extent Kursk) have the issue that bot tanks will shoot you through small gaps between buildings, which is almost impossible to avoid.

And there is your problem.
You don’t camp base on Sinai.
You fan out.

Yeah, I don’t miss it.

But that means we see more of the “revised” Ardennes map. Have not won there since they changed it.

Fan out to where, exactly? I have preferred spots on all Assault maps, but trying to find cover at Sinai is like hiding billiard balls on a pool table. Stand behind a rock covering against pack 1, either 2 or 3 will shoot you to bits. Find a rock to cover against 2 and 3, 1 will riddle you with holes. My preferred Sinai spot since the makeover is “Return to hangar”.

There used to be one (1) good position which provided halfway decent cover and the opportunity to shoot, but that was removed with the useless makeover. A rollback to that state would be nice because the Assault part of the Sands of Sinai map is just the staging area in the upper right corner, half of the Assault section is outside the PvP boundaries and triggers the “get back in 25 seconds” message, which also makes searching a good spot in Custom Battles impossible. A rollback will never happen, even though makeovers of Assault maps have this tendency to go severely wrong, see Ardennes. That’s also unplayable now.

Maybe if you have a fast vehicle. Except for some lights, in BRs < 7.0 you won’t make it to cover before the waves of bots pick you off. Have lost count of the number of times I’ve tried to reach the flank spots and died 100m from safety.

You leave the spawn zone on Mozdok and it’s way easier to do so

Since Sinai is back in the rotation, I thought I’d give it a try. There is now one position which is almost ok to play, but completely open to the northernmost bot spawn. After I got my dose of the good old “bots spawn, a bit over one second later I get hit six times, three crew dead, half the tank red” I decided that it’s still not worth the time. As far as I’m concerned, the best and easiest solution would be a rollback to the state prior to the unnecessary makeover.

Sinai has always been shooting fish in a barrel… But you are the fish. Only worth playing if you are grinding a heli otherwise it’s just a repair bill waiting to happen

I will always wonder why Gaijin is changing maps that don’t need changing, but leaves those which do need some fixing.

They did make one change to it, they closed off the area up the hill towards the heli spawn which was the only place that you could actually find cover and engage enemies on most of the approaches.

No idea where that would be, I’m avoiding 8.3+ in Ground Assault because a.) the whole Leopard 2 family are ammo cripples (I play only German tanks because I have no interest in others) and b.) helicopters are leeching every bit of fun out of the game for tank drivers. Often enough they’re even worse than the score-padders who spawn SPAAs to mow down squishies (waves 1 and 7) while ignoring bot aircraft.

I didn’t play Sinai in that BR bracket already before I gave up on it entirely, being the target on a gunnery range for bots with a six-second turret rotation speed isn’t my idea of fun.

Maginot is the absolute worst map to play in the company of helicopters.

Play assault for one or two things, 1. unlock parts, 2. level up crews. The payout to time ratio is much more consistent compare to pvp where you will have less control over the team’s victory, which the rewards for the failing is cut in half. SPAA benefit more by crippling the enemies via tracks breaking and receive the kill assists, which they also slow down the enemies which buy the team more time to eliminate.
