Tanks used to be loud, enough to hear them. I did see players crying about Abrams being loud etc… so they probably lowered everything. I remember being able to hear tanks nearby, now barley. So yea, its a very unreliable implementation. I wear a headset, thats how bad the low sound of tanks is.
after nearly 2 year in the game. the abrams has lost their engines sound in recent update.
it is crazy to me that a ww2 tank can be x2 as loud as 60ton mbt.
now i have installed a sound mod, i can hear everything. its their fault and i will not use theirs sounds to limite the player skills. also i am a speaker player, not a head set. tried once, twice as loud. in the same volume
I rarely play the Soviet light tanks unless it’s a btr since they’re so loud, they can be heard around 240~ meters away from a bunch of treating me and my buddies did.
T90M was like 280
Meanwhile Leo 2a7 was the quietest around 120~ and the abrams about 160~
It almost seems like the company does not really care about the game, now it is all about the hype and adding new things to part people with their much hard earned cash.
This is just another aspect of the game that allows players to manipulate advantages, it is bad enough that a lot of advantages are baked into the code of the game, such as the spawn distances when air battles are activated in ground games, invisible shells, or very little damage or penetration with shells.
Sadly the game is not really realistic or has much skill involved, cheating and manipulation certainly, a few nicely modeled vehicles a realistic game does not make, I expect that all the penetration calculations are not actually calculated and it is a far more simpler RNG model that is used.
NGL, until yesterday, i didnt know Keen Vision also affects the sound of enemy tanks engine, movements, gun fire etc…Mostly thought was purely for easier spotting and red tiny arrow arrow showing up at the edge of the screen indicating there is a enemy at the directions of the arrow and also render distance.
