Does anyone have any knowledge about how the map rotation works, or doesn’t work? I play ground arcade and the number of times I see the same maps back-to-back averages ~30-50% of the total games I play. It’s very common to play a map to completion (sometimes 2-3 times) and get put on the same map, mission, and side the very next match. When this happens, there’s a decent chance that you’ll see that map a 3rd, 4th, 5th, or even 6th time. Leaving a game early seems to nearly guaranty that you’ll be put on the same map again when you search for a new battle. What’s the deal?
To me this issue has been around for so long it doesn’t seem like a bug. It seems intentional, but for reasons I cannot understand. And all that it seems to accomplish is to frustrate players.
It’s like there’s a drunk Ivan in control of map rotation and he’s so plastered from drinking vodka all day that he’s terrible at performing his simple task of changing maps, and is constantly falling asleep on the job causing maps to be repeated over-and-over. But, he’s a product of nepotism, so he’s kept in charge even though he’s woefully unqualified and doesn’t do his job half of the time.
if you leave the game to fast (as far as i have seen) and get into another immediately after.
I think the maps are on a time based rotation so players that tend to ODL (on death leave) are the ones that usually complain about seeing the same map over and over again (because their games are like 2-3 minutes long and map rotations are like 15 min apart)
At least i think this is how it works. but i’m really just “guesstimating”

That’s something I’ve noticed in the past. There’s a punishment mechanic in place which will force you to play the same map on the same side if you leave early, even if you had a bad match and got knocked out early w/ three tanks, a majority of the time.
But it also seems like 4-5 maps are more-less locked in the rotation for a period of time (e.g. 5 days), and 90% of the games you play will be on those handful of maps. The other 10% of games are on less popular maps that don’t seem randomly selected from the 40+ maps available for my BR. Then I find that certain maps from the 4-5 on rotation get played much more frequently than others. E.g. Severesk-13, Sweden, Sun City, North Holland, etc. seem to get played much more often @ arcade BR 5.7 than the next two most popular maps combined.
For me, it’s time that War Thunder made a sane map rotation like what CS2 has. Allow people to select groups of maps, and make the rotation even. No need to try to outsmart the player or dictate what they play.
