What can save American top tier air?

This is my expectation. Or at the very least they will remain in close proximity.

F-35 is a weak A2A aircraft, far weaker than the F-22.

F-35B is the weakest of the F-35 in A2A combat

So the only way it would be balanced is if the F-35, especially the F-35B was a notably lower BR than the F-22.

Its called the F-15

and the Typhoon is not a 5th gen and the UK does not field a 5th gen Air superiority fighter, meteor should be added in an attempt to balance that disparity. (also lets include Germany in this that does not get a F-35 from anywhere currently)

Cs, no. But Ds to D3s actually yes, assuming that stealth mitigates the range advantage of the Meteor in that fight.

HMD… really isnt that major of a deal, way less than most seem to argue actually. I very very rarely actually use it (though with HOBS that could actually change)

Same for IRST. I very rarely use it, the biggest advantage would be finding stealth jets, but the Typhoon is the only jet (iirc) that currently cannot fire ARH via IRST lock in-game currently. (IRL it can)

So… Does F-22 with Aim-120Ds vs Typhoon with C5s sounds fair or balanced to you?

What do you think about the 15EX? I think the 22-missile loadout could actually become top-rank meta.

22 is purely theoretical, 16 would be max

I’m sure the Canadian and Australian F35As will be added to the British tree, so that issue is mostly solved.

The F15 is not a 4.5 gen platform.

If a Typhoon variant is expected to be the counter to the F22, then sure. If the F35A and B are added to counter the F22, then I don’t see the need for the Typhoon to also receive the Meteor. If the Typhoon and F35A and B receive the Meteor, that would be very unbalanced.

No, but I don’t expect the Typhoon to be the counter. The forums would explode if the F22 was the only 5th gen fighter added to the game, no matter how hard Gaijin nerfs it.

I don’t think the F15EX will bring anything new to the game.

i think if they add 5th gens, they should add the J-20 and Su-57 as well which both only exist operationally in mid/late 2010s configurations at the earliest. Because of this, I also think they will add the F-22 in a similar configuration, with HMD since it was tested and with 9X-2 to match the PL-10 and R-74M. Whether or not it gets 120D-3 is debatable but since the only internal carry medium range air to air missile for the Su-57 is the R-77M and the PL-15 is the only option for the J-20, i think it isnt unreasonable.

For the European side of things, they can have their MICA-IR, ASRAAM, IRIS-T, and Meteor, but only if the jet is at the same BR as the 5th gens since they will have a missile advantage to even out the advantages of the 5th gens

I agree, but I’d expand…we don’t even need 120D. We need 120 fixed.
Also we need FMs caped to 9g, which is a great maneuverability equalizer.
When you cut the 16g envelope down to actual 9, you expand the speed envelope where an F15 can parry the Eurofighter in maneuvering by 2.5x. What ppl perceive as the UFO FM in Eurocanards is the consequence of overblown G allowance on their huge wings.
If this gets done, you’ll very unlikely see threads like this one anymore.

Won’t F-35C be weakest though?

At the same BR is funny lol

At most 5th gen will be .3 higher in which case current 14.7s will always be in a match with them anyways

i mean if both get raised to 15.3 min or hopefully higher

Eventually, sure. But gaijin has never raised the BR 2 steps up at once, only incrementally

they will have a couple updates to do that though no?

If by “couple” you mean the ones in between the December and ~April 2027 updates, sure. Gotta let those stats settle in first for the full picture before controversial stuff like BR decompression happens :p

Can only pray and hope planned game mode is good but of course we should have 0 expectations about it

Here is a comparison of f35c and f35b turn radius with load unknown. Source from X

f35c may have the better fm in some regimes over f35b but depends on how modeled in wt

True, but it is the only somewhat decent aircraft with AIM-120Ds.

I think this is the correct take.

The F22 will be piloted by dumdums who think its massive stealth in all aspects and will get lit up by IRST.
The F35 will have a better radar and integrated IRST to combat the F22. In addition to a FLIR pod that will give better awareness while radar is off.

F22 will be the new F-14 IRAF of BVR top tier, climb and sling and do some silly things at close range
F35 will be an all rounder and have a larger payload+more missiles

They’ll set the F22 as the early model without stealth wing weapon pods or upgraded radar
Give the israli and other faction F35 upgrades over the US one
We’ve seen that song and dance before it’s not new

I feel like hes not wrong though, sure when the meta was hmd slings you could disregard radar, but with everyone having much better situation awareness, the ability to properly datalink your missiles and not being stuck with a subpar amount of aim120crap5 i imagine the ef2k must not be the most fun right now

How though? They behave pretty much the same

The super hornet are playable, theyre missile busses which have a really easy time getting in a notch, they’re bad but they also are really really easy to play, i wouldnt disparage them, if the aim120d was more competitive they would be pretty decent.
