though im not talking vs F-22 here, im talking general aircraft detection
So ive seen someone quote 60% reduced IR signature for the F-22 compared to F-15 I think it was. so if we assume the max range under good conditions is 150km vs an F-15 on reheat, then F-22 should be detected around 60km on reheat.
Yeah, but assuming good weather and those figures track, then that is still like 60km for the F-22, and thats the old PIRATE, there is a new upgraded one being deployed soon-ish and I have no idea how Litening Vs A2A mode performs.
Either one could beat that 60km range figure rather nicely
Right now we cannot say anything. Maybe the new system would be able to track it from more than 60km or less than 60km. Either way one in game is the older model IIRC
Id assume that given the increasing number of stealth aircraft and small drones, a major emphasis will be on upgrading it to counter those threats. Which is what their satatements generally say indirectly
Yeah, but this is also the same game where the F-117 has IR reducing code and is still hotter than an F-5 on reheat
So?
The F-22 might end up perfectly detectable at very long range if IRST becomes uncapped with the current IR Signature… “modeling”
Do you have any sources that states its 150km only in rear aspect? Flame’s report indicates 65km front aspect in very poor conditions. I dont think 100+km under optimal conditions would be that unreasonable
and the average max range for most fights in War thunder is less than that though and again… its a big assumption that that will actually be modeled in war thunder given that there is no IR signature modeling at this time. Otherwise the Harrier would be able to defeat a rear-aspect missile just by VIFFing and wouldnt be hotter than the surface of the sun. Likewise an afterburning F-5 wouldnt be colder than an F-117
Yeah I wasn’t sure, but that doesn’t sound so attractive if it wouldn’t have AIM-174B in a potential meta where others are carrying Meteor, R-37M, and etc
Ah right, thank you, yes Britecloud are gunna be awesome, especially if the RAF goes through with the plans to upgrade/replace the FGR4’s current internal dispensers with a new blister containing lot more dispensers, 300 standard CMs or 150 large. Thats a lot of potential Briteclouds
