What advantage does the SU-30SM2 have over the Rafale?

Why are you making shit up?

It was but not so much now, it’s lack of true BVR capability hurts it. The 120D and even C outrange the MICA and upgraded Radars make these missiles more dangerous at longer ranges.

But if you get within 8-12km of a Rafale and they send a MICA it’s GG.

This is not the case, Most TSS players would prefer the SM2 to the Raf due to the ability to sit in the notch and fire off R-77-1s, plus the overall missile count is better than the Raf.

?

You can still notch at that range, that’s standard notch ranges for me lmao.

It quite literally is worse than the R-77 rangewise (not -1, I mean the base missile)

You can notch a MICA at those ranges but it is hard unless you see the launch.

Well R-77-1 doesnt have upgrade numbers like a 120 we have R-77-1 that has been in service since the 90s

I feel Gaijin use current performance for the missile. While the 120C and D are scrutinised more.

it’s not particularly difficult, tbh I don’t feel a huge difference over other missiles.

You fly a Russian jet with large chaff, try it in a Typhoon or Gripen with BOL

MICA does not bite on the BOL chaff because Gaijin dont want NATO having an edge they nerfed the effectiveness of both Chaff and Flares from BOL dispensers.

I primarily play vehicles with medium cal chaff.
Even BOL chaff…

When I fly the Su-33 it is far easier to decoy missiles than it is the Typhoon and as range is reduced the less time you have to get into the notch window and try and decoy the missile.

BOL could do with being classified as medium, what is funny is well BOL Flares are the only ones that can deter IIR missiles…Yet they can struggle in game with basic R-73/Magic 2s

As long as this little dash is above missile target the missile WILL recieve DL update.

i would assume they model it that way because 29 manual says that minimum target speed for the 27r/er tracking is limited by host radar capabilities, like i would take that as long as the radar maintains lock on the correct target, it can guide the missile towards it. The manual gives a max target speed but no min target speed for targets hit.

Which makes sense cause there’s plenty of videos online of ukr mig-29s killing almost stationary drones with 27er

yeah irl guidance is cooked after 3 seconds and is not resumed even if relock happens after radar homing has started.

before that though in the dl phase it should be possible afaik as the missile is being told where to point its seekerhead, it’s not actually tracking anything

holy grippy lift, though they nerfed it now i think

That was grippy E

Missile count, missile variety, radar, radar gimbal, ability to fire and datalink 27ERs/77-s in the notch. Especially with the SM2, but if an off boresight 77-1 is launched, the way it flies straight out and then turns in after a few seconds makes the defending pilot go even more defensive than they should. In my honest opinion, the SM2 mogs the Raf in ARB.

yeah that’s so annoying. wish they edit the time to target so that the missile doesn’t do that and instead immediately starts turning instead

You clearly play in tournaments, which shows how comfortable you are notching close range missiles myself and others could not do that as consistently.
