As spaniard i have to say: with France no please.

And there you have the biggest issue with sub trees. Politics and history.

Yes!
And Spain only bougth the AMX-30 and Mirage F1.Spain have more german and native armament.

Imho you presented with these nations exactly the reason why wt needs a rework.

There is nothing wrong with trees and sub-trees - it is a matter of allocation of these nations to historical and political facts and timelines. And to change them at the right point of time; otherwise nations are just randomly allocated to historical or current allies or playing vs historical or current allies.

So instead of trying to fill line up gaps with subtrees it would make much more sense to allow multi nation line ups which were somewhere near reality.

I see countries like Spain with imho a minor contribution to WW2 (Blue squadron, Escuadrilla Azul) rather on a waiting list, but for countries like Poland things are complicated - invaded by Germany and the USSR, occupied and later joining the USSR, then Warsaw Pact member and them Nato member. And even more complicated if you look at France or Italy in WW 2 - fighting for both sides at the same time.

And this list goes on and on…so if your play wt as a war game these fantasy allocations within the MM are killing any connection to reality.

While I understand what you’re saying, I don’t quite get how it applies to the point I’m making.

My point was that all these nations could function separately from any other nations already present in game, thus eliminating the issues that arise when discussing them as sub-trees.

The point was aimed at the allocation of nations in the MM at different point of times - so even if certain nations would have “complete” lineups - the majority has not.

So i fully support everybody which want to see his nation in the game, but i see the need (for a somehow comprehensible war game) putting them into correct alliances. And if the nation is too small - allow multinational line ups to avoid further fantasy vehicles created just for the sake of filling gaps…

Idk how much of a good idea this is but I think that Spain should be added as a proper Italian subtree. They can fill it out especially at the higher ranks where Spain would be able to provide the Hornets and Phantoms since Italy never used anything but the Starfighter lmao
Not to mention giving Italy a proper MBT at top tier (Leopard 2E) and also fleshing out the lineup with the myriad of modified Spanish vehicles like AMX-30E, M48A5E (several variants), and M47E. Could be pretty interesting and maybe make Italy feel like an actual playable nation at the high ranks.
And the Centuaro VRCC is already in the game so there is some precedence.

Yes,spainish vehicles should be a to Italy.

Some kind of neutral powers tree?

My take would be an Iberian tech tree, with 2 branches:

  • Spain: Not only with Spanish vehicles, but Argentine, Venezuelan, and basically any hispanoamerican vehicle.

  • Brazil: Plus a Portuguese sub-branch, in case they’ve got something interesting.

No.

No…? Literally zero domestic designs…
Would just make some spanish happy and nothing else.
And i am not just saying it because i believe that it’s not meant to be in WT, but i am also saying it because i am sure that GAIJIN is not willing to spend money on a short line subtree with some copy paste NATO vehicles…

man i hate to break it to you but the only one with some domestic designs is brazil, because of embrear, but they are not a lot either.
All the nations you listed have never even wanted to make their own vehicles…

ASCOD?
Verdeja?
HA-220?
CASA C.101?
VBL?

And we’re really going to ignore all of their fun modifications?

Life must be easy when you don’t research anything.

Er no it doesn’t, not unless we are having Galleons in Naval :)

Just for rank 7, they could get the f4c, the f1c/e/m, the f5a and mirage III, and maybe the regular ab8b, but i dont think that we will actually see them at least for a long while due to the Hungarian sub tree

To be fair, Sweden does actually have a wealth of military vehicles to draw upon, enough so that you can have a reasonably fleshed out TT even if its on the smaller side. Spain, from my (admittedly cursory research) doesn’t have anywhere near enough vehicles for a properly fleshed out tech tree. Its got enough for a couple ground premiums and maybe a naval subtree.

They’d be fair on basically all fronts.

In aviation they’d have a decent amount of modifications of aircraft as well as a few local airframes, including a jet trainer with armament.

For ground they have several domestic options, but also heavily modified foreign vehicles.

For naval I think it speaks for itself.

Only helicopters is slightly lacking, but with how little heli producers there actually are I think that’s forgiveable.

Spain do the the first amphibious landing in history involving the use of tanks and massive seaborne air support. Basically the first successful combined operation of the 20th century.
Spanish army with germany Luftwaffe and Fascist Italian air force do the first long range combat airlift in the history.
The first troops enter in Paris were spanish.
Spain military history is gigantic, with things like the older Marine infanty corps in the world, the first army in defeat Napoleon army in open field battle, and proably the only country with captured war flags from UK, France, Soviet Union or USA in his museums.
I dont know where are you from but you should stop learning history using only English, Frenchs or Ducht sources.

…but not in the context of wt.

As long as in theory a tree or sub-tree in wt is based on:

  1. Significant participation in combats in WW 2 or after
  2. Significant output of domestic military hardware in the same times
  3. Significant demand for domestic hardware able to close gaps of other trees or to present major technical milestones - or just to earn money

I see outside some battles with BR 0.7 to 1.3 planes to represent the civil war upfront WW 2 no real place in wt - at least in a short term view…

Example of an (in)famous domestic aircraft

And i actually hope that i won’t see such a thing in wt:

undefined

…as it hurts my eyes to see an upright V 12 in an airframe designed for an inverted V 12. Seeing this crime vs good taste in the BoB movie is a similar affront towards aircraft enthusiasts like the (in)famous head-on scene of a P-51 vs a 262 in Red Tails.
