Well well well, new BR changes, 1 more proposal

My F-15A BR has already dropped, and I haven’t even flown it 100 times yet, but I’ll share my thoughts for now.
Honestly, there wasn’t a single instance where the radar caused the 7M to miss. It felt more like the 7M’s performance couldn’t keep up and got dodged, rather than the radar’s fault.
The radar itself actually tracked well even when notched, so I don’t think it was bad.
However, I can’t deny the possibility that I was just lucky.

Well, that’s the elephant in the room about the F-15A/J/Baz’s BVR: In case you get the radar to work properly, you rely on unreliable 7Ms to do the work, so even if the AN/APG-63 PSP gets eventually buffed/fixed on its illumination strength, the jet will still be held back by its top BVR missile.

On Defyn’s last video talking his head about the BR changes, he admits the radar is part of the issue, so its not something that I fabricated out of the blue. Its something that, at the very least, existed for some time and the ones we’ve played the plane since its release have dealt with it in the past.

It’s fine, I trust your judgement. Saw your performance yesterday and I can vouch without further cross-checking.

My own perception of the F-15A might be a bit off lately, and besides, I haven’t flown it enough times to make a proper judgment yet.

Yeah, I guess so. 7M is better than nothing, but I don’t think it’s strong.

Congrats, you met how easily people can mess with your radar by basically going diagonally! Though at least, your MEM held up to the task

That certainly does not happen on the hornet’s radar unless properly notched in comparison.

Just to clarify, the Sparrow did hit afterward.
But it’s definitely a issue that doesn’t occur in Hornet (especially C (Early)).

And that’s the thing, once the radar starts weakening its illumination, it becomes a matter of RNG. You got the kill there, next time, your sparrow may just go nuts. Or maybe lose TRK out of the blue.

And that’s why I’ve been saying the Eagle may have a 13.0-worthy kit, but paired with a finicky radar that’s closer to 12.3 than of 13.0, even while being fully PD, in practice it behaves more like a PD HDN. Its also worth mentioning that this illumination issue is also a thing on French radars at that BR range.

I’ve been playing this game since before the F-14A was even implemented, so I believe opinions backed up by actual flight experience and combat records usually carry significant weight…
Also, I don’t think the F-15A is OP. I don’t think it’s that weak, though.
To be honest, I still don’t think it was worth lowering the F-15A’s BR that much.
As we both recognize, it would have been better to either remove the 9M or give the F-15A the AIM-7P, repair its radar, and keep it at 13.0.
Gaijin’s decision to simply lower the F-15A to 12.7 doesn’t fundamentally solve the problem.
