We should have the option to retract a complaint

I was just in a match where a guy with a Kanji or maybe Mandarin name TK’d me deliberately. Out on the flank by myself, no excuse, apology not accepted, etc.

Unfortunately I realized after filing my complaint that I’d reported the wrong guy as there were two players on my team with similar looking names in Kanji or Mandarin or some other Asian language I can’t read.

While I then filed a complaint on the correct player there was no way for me to retract the erroneous complaint. I briefly debated filing another complaint to explain the situation with instructions to disregard both it and the previous complaint but that seemed kinda stupid and would likely just cause more issues.

It would be nice to have an option to retract a complaint. Such an option could replace the complaint option for a player who you’ve recently complained about.

For reference this is the guy that TK’d me:

And this is the innocent guy I reported by mistake:

While those names look distinct enough in hindsight, with one being longer, in the moment when you’re upset about being deliberately teamkilled in the middle of an otherwise successful flanking action and you can’t read that language it’s too easy to mix them up.

Whilst i fully support your general idea - i am actually wondering why you even waste your time with reporting a team killer.

If you have followed the pinned Team killing thread you find out, that:

  1. Gaijin fully thrust their “auto-ban” functionality
  2. Game Masters are not acting on manual team killing reports
  3. Even if the auto-ban system gets triggered, you just see a temp ban of 24 h

The only exception from this happened some months ago - a nuke carrier got teamkilled and posted a vid in this forum. The head of the GMs intervened and declared that the team killing guy got punished…

Have a good one!

That’s a good question and the best answer is “it feels more effective than cussing them out in chat, especially in cases where there’s an apparent language barrier” and because of that it helps fight the temptation to revenge TK them back.

As far as my suggestion goes it’s more about providing the opportunity to correct a mistake and avoid any risk of punishing someone innocent and making myself look like a spurious reporter.

This makes somehow sense :-)

I would like to see that gaijin would modify their “blocking” function as currently you can just block 100 guys - and you can’t distinguish if you have blocked them for team killing of chat slurs/spamming. So extending the list to 200 entries, giving an option to add a reason for blocking and adding the date of the block would be great.

If you have played long enough - you simply run out of blocking options…

I would like to see the block function actually work. I haven’t blocked many people, only a small handful of truly egregious ones, yet I noticed the other week that there was a guy in my match who’s messages I couldn’t read because I’d blocked them so clearly it didnt stop them from appearing in my games.

And I agree with the option to list a reason to block, or simply the ability to add private notes on other players profiles, because I ended up unblocking that guy only to then have him ram my Fox out of cover because he wanted to sit in the same spot I was already in. I got killed as a result, and he took advantage of MY spot and then got a plane and dropped a bomb for a quad kill. Absolute prick.

How did you do the actual report?

If you did it in-game via the “complain” option in the statistics screen, that is only used for Chat related offences and not team-killing or any other offences such as passive play. So your reports won’t been seen.

If you reported it via the after-game Server Replay and with the timestamp of when it happened, then whoever reviewing it should see you’ve reported the wrong name, and can hopefully make the deduction from viewing the other players in the game (and who shot you) that it was in innocent error.

Well, cussing them out is a clear no go and only will put you into trouble.

As to retracting complaints, don’t worry about it: All complaints are checked by us, and in my experience 90% of them are invalid, and only the 10% which are valid are acted upon. So the reporter taking back a complaint will be quite rare, and not actually affect the outcome. = )

Note also that TK’s are mostly taken care of by the automated system, which works very well.

If that’s true then why does the in game complain option have “teamkilling” as a reason in the drop down menu?

Copy that, thank you.

Feel free to lock the thread.

I’m not sure why – I was surprised when I found out.

@Schindibee was the one who confirmed it to me (in the old forums). They may not be able to say why the options are there, as that is a game dev/design thing, but that only chat offences are looked at from in-battle complaints and anything else needed server replay complaints.

This is yet another issue that came when Gaijin allowed characters from all languages to be used for usernames…

Now, when I see 2-4 Chinese usernames and I want to address one of them, it’s like… I can’t read Chinese and even less so can I write, so how should I do it? “You, the guy with the Chinese name that has a symbol that looks like a tree in the middle”…?

Most reliable way is by whatever vehicle they’re in but chances are they can’t read what you’re saying anyway.

I thought you can also click their name in the chat window, or the list of players in the match, no?

You don’t have to feel bad about complaining about the wrong person. Because in my opinion, both of them should be complained about. I am Chinese. The first person who killed you should be complained about. The second person who has an uncivilized word in his name should also be complained about
