We should have a game mechanic that promotes teamwork (air battles)

How to implement this: Consider four subjects: two on each team. Team A is subject 1 and 2, team B is subject 3 and 4.

Suppose Subject 1 is shooting at Subject 4 while Subject 3 is looming behind, Subject 2 can kill Subject 3 but Subject 2 shoots at Subject 4 instead and then Subject 3 kills both 1 and 2. This is a way too common scenario.

My point to promote teamwork is that if someone attempts to take down someother’s business after they already severely damaged them, the third partying teammate would get only half the SL and a maximum of an enemy kill assist, and if the teammate who could register ANY hits on the same enemy eventually gets critically damaged, severed or killed in the span of 15 seconds the gain will be actually removed and punished with half a team kill’s price.

Third partying would be at a loss and this would make people focus more on protecting their teammates instead of gathering as many kills as possible.

that wont solve it
all this will do rn is make grinding more insufferable since sometimes just a black elevator (not even the moving part of it) can count as a severe

thats just stupid

imho it would be smarter to encourage teamplay by encouraging winning by adding like double rewards for it
this would stop people from killing themselves for one single potential kill

So you’re advocating for kill stealers to thrive while the people who work the hardest have the least of the cake? Thank you for showing that you’re part of the problem.

thats just stupid

Elaborate?

This will incentivate kill stealing even more.

never said that
but ig you dont get it so lets give you an example
we have person A in a p51
person A “severes”(aka gives them a black elevator which should be a crit at most) person B in a 109 (could be any plane)
person A dies to person B since the plane person B flies is still like 100% combat worthy
now person C kills person B
now tell me
should person C get a kill or only an assist
and lets take this further
person C dies after that to person B flatspinning or something else
should person C not get anything from shooting person B in a perfectly fine plane down?!

how am i part of the problem?!
i mean ill be totally honest
i just shoot down every enemy i can if im grinding an event
but i mean if you dont do that id say thats like 100% on you for not going for everything you can go for
(normally i dont killsteal tho)

(look up to the explanation i gave)

elaborate

(btw both sides get basically credited for a kill rn if some1 kills a severed target)
(but for some dumb reason it doesnt go into your stats soooooooooooo if youre flying for stats that sucks ig
but if youre flying for fun or to grind it does not matter)

never said that

You don’t have to say anything to mean it. The fact most people still don’t understand this and has to be explained is a bad signal that humanity as a communicative species is doomed.

I can say for example “it’s OK for school books to be heavily priced to avoid overbuying and save paper sources”, I didn’t explicitly meant that poor children shall not access books and as such they need to be expensive, but I did imply that thing since 90 percent of the people is poorer than the average salary that can afford the books, therefore only 10 percent can afford books and in theory avoid overbuying and saving paper sources, even if someone richer than the average middle class (10 percent of that 10 percent) can buy an entire batch.

This, my friend, is called rhetoric, and when you said that punishing people for stealing kills only makes the grind harder, you are advocating for kill stealing while having those who worked their rumps to get the enemies in a killable position to get literally nothing.

I have a simpler example. Imagine someone in Japan pushes you in the streets and you fall to the ground. You cannot respond with anything cause you’d get deported, but you look at them with a very bad face. Did you explicitly say “I wanna whoop yo hinds”? No, but you meant it and the pusher understood.

I don’t know when you started playing, but in this game until some years ago you could win a lot of points by simply dogfighting enemies and staying in a dogfight for over a minute granted you as many points and SL as a kill and would multiply the more enemies you tangled with. And let me tell you, back then kill stealing was not as common because people could loiter around enemies happily baiting them for their team, get no kills and still have high profitable games.

Of course not, cause you missed the part where I said that the third party has to occur while your friendly is still alive. If your friendly left a frag on an enemy and you kill that enemy while the friendly who critically damaged the enemy first is still alive, the guy getting the kill will get punished with a very small amount of money and points, ONLY AND IF ONLY the event is triggered by person A damaging person B and person C is shooting at person B while A is still alive, the 15 second counter would happen. If person B kills person A before C kills B then they would get a normal kill.

SUmmed up: ACTIVITY COUNTS. Dead = not active.

Didn’t you realize you gotcha’d yourself?

I already explained it.

oh ik lol

(then change person A getting killed by person B to person B running way)

what if you got 10% (can be changed) extra sl for every teammate alive ><

Its already hard enough trying to help people when they always seem to decide to make the worst possible turn when you dive on the enemy plane behind them.

If this mechanic was added, i would honestly be less likely to help teammates. I dont want to end up losing sl because the dude who was shooting at the enemy is in a death spirl but still considered alive.

Haha, the same thing happens to me; they always turn sharply when you’re about to help them.

A few days ago I almost cried because I found a player who knew what he was doing. I was flying an Fw 190 A-8 and he was flying a Bf 109 G-6 (I think). We played as a team throughout the match and ended up with him killing 5 planes and me 4. One of the things we did was shoot down two La-5s, since he was engaging one. When I went after it to join the fight, after my first pass and gaining altitude, I realized another La-7 was coming. So I got into position and shot down that La-7 while my teammate shot down the previous one. Then we teamed up to kill a Spitfire MkIX, and to finish the match, an F4U was coming. When I saw it was coming for me and my teammate was nearby and alert, I climbed vertically to trap the F4U in an energy trap, and as soon as the F4U stopped My defenseless companion was killed, ending the game.

again if the first fragger dies to second enemy before the second fragger frags the first enemy the punishment doesnt’ count because it would be that your friendly didn’t arrive on time. This is why the 15 second counter, to decide whether your friendly would recapacitate and fire towards the second offender or commit to stealing the kill and have his friend killed in the meantime.

you already get a bonus for saving teammates being shot at, it’s called air forces rescuer or something like that.

The problem with ARBs is that people play however they want, and above all, they play to kill, not to win. It’s strange to see something as basic as gradually losing altitude when being chased so that teammates below can help, instead, all they do is dive steeply, losing a lot of altitude. Then there’s what the other person mentioned above; it seems like they do it on purpose. When you’re close enough to help them, they suddenly make a sharp turn and disrupt your attack, when the normal thing would be to climb vertically to make it easier for you to help them (I imagine the teammate wants the enemy to switch to chasing you so they can kill them). Another problem is the obsession with going into combat at minute 1 and at low altitude just to kill the attackers, only to then lose the game because all the enemies drop down from above.

In ARB, there has been a bad obsession with trying to kill attackers and ground targets, although it must be acknowledged that in the current state of the ARB economy it is not surprising, since killing four trucks gives you the same credits as taking down an enemy, and is much easier.

so this mechanic I propose would also force people to learn how to play

Nice to know.

It’s not bad. Another thing that could be done is to give significantly more credits and XP for killing an enemy chasing a teammate, and if an enemy is killed who has been severely damaged by another teammate, the majority of the credits should go to the one who dealt the severe damage, splitting the kill between the two.
It’s truly sad to have to come up with economic mechanics to encourage things that should be normal. For example, the other day I saw a Spitfire from my team fighting a Yak-9T. When I saw them separating, I decided to attack from above, but when I arrived I saw that the Yak was missing a wing, so I gained altitude and flew away, since that enemy was doomed.

war thunder does not understand enemy position and stuff. We already have the bonus for killing someone who damaged a friendly as I said, air forces rescuer.

Yes, but I could offer a bigger bonus, since it’s not something commonly seen, and this would further encourage teamwork, as the earnings would be considerably higher.

This is correct, but the root cause for that is the perceived grind pressure. Almost nobody enjoys the here and now and flies a match to enjoy the game.

The idea to promote teamwork is not bad - but hard to execute with this mindset. If some people need a monetary (SL/RP) incentive for playing for the team - fine for me. But from a holistic pov it is not needed as the general mindset is decisive.

Out of my 30k battles at least 400-600 matches were minimal or zero point / mission score victories. Either by securing a ticket win for the team or by occupying dangerous enemies at very high alt allowing my outnumbered teammates at low alt to fight in more favorable conditions. The first version works best on old legacy maps - and the second one a plane like a P-47.

100% 👍

That’s also what’s funny about some matches. In one with the Fw 190, I was gaining altitude until I saw an I225 (one of the highest-flying enemies) approaching me from above. So I turned around and started to move away without losing much altitude until it got really close. Then I started descending lower and faster to make it lose enough altitude for my teammates to take it down. In the end, the enemy realized too late that he shouldn’t lose altitude while following me, so he ended up being killed by a teammate. I turned around to gain some altitude and look for enemies, but the match ended. In short, I earned 0 credits and 0 XP haha.
