No.
They could be working on, say, missing cockpits, though…
That’s not their job, they are specialized artists for art work. Not modeling cockpits, they have different teams.
Cockpits are outsourced to independent contractors, Gaijin’s in-house artists work on map assets for the most part it seems.
So yeah, the guy who finds grass textures and dirt road textures definitely needs to start putting cockpits into the game, right?
totally lol
It’s about priorities.
If you pay someone to paint your house, are you going to be fine if he spends his time with a fine brush painting flowers on your deck railing without having finished, you know, the house first?
But if they aren’t a painter, and are a carpenter, what then?
Then get your hands off the paint and on the saw!
I’m not saying these other jobs don’t need done, for sure, but you’d think the modelers would be more focused on making sure the actual vehicles are complete before “making the pillows extra cuddly.”
And yes, the same groups making the pillows are going to be involved in making the cockpits. After all, the pillows aren’t blank 2D decals, are they? The above comment about the pillows popping off with an explosion are proof enough of that.
If anything, should be asking for Gaijin to hire more devs that specializes on cockpits, gameplay elements and so on rather than wanting artist to join their job.
Yes, actually. That would be nice.
Though I can’t say I understand this distinction between modelers and artists. Are models not art?
why not have those artists making decals and art like squadron markings
full, detailed 3D model is very different to make than a decal
They are, however they specialize in different areas.
You mean like… body pillows?
come on. compare the level of detail and size of the jets and tanks, to a body pillow decoration. still a very different assignment
Considering that these pillows are basically a stock 3D model with a fairly simple texture that is outsourced, there’s no change in priority when one is made.
That’s very incorrect, actually. Pandramodo (who does trailers for WT updates) is the 2D artist who made the pillow textures, and the 3D model is essentially something you can whip up in Blender after a few hours of tinkering and 4 tutorial videos (or buy off of a 3D asset store). Unless you think bomber cockpits need anime girls in them, I doubt you’re interested in Pandramodo making textures for cockpits and a novice 3D artist making high fidelity models for cockpits.
You see, my real problem here is that they don’t seem to have any priority on it.
How many years is a long enough wait to have a completed vehicle model (for a vehicle that is, in fact, released)?
I wouldn’t mind silly little things like daki if it didn’t feel so disingenuous.
That’s nothing to do with who made them and who can make them. I said that as a joke to make light and draw attention to how they act.
The models are outsourced too. It’s very standard industry practice to hire contractors for 3D art assets. The reason why some models look like they’re straight out of 2011 while others are very high fidelity and accurate is because the low fidelity ones are old and don’t make enough money to justify their replacement with a new outsourced model.
The priority has always been what makes the most money first. As any business should be expected to do.
EXTRAORDINARILY disagree (obviously, to a point.)
A business’s first priority is to its customers, then to its honor.
The money will flow naturally as a result, and without a guilty conscience.
What are we without principles, without honor?
A lot of us asked for more lol
