A video showing battlefield 1’s kill sound effect. It’s my favorite kill feedback.
In conclusion, I believe that we need kill sound effect in GRB. A quick “ding” might work perfectly, just like the headshot sound in Hell Let Loose.
I’ve heard many people talking about “War Thunder is more like an FPS now”. I have to admit, some of my inspiration actually came from this. I think, high BR battles in War Thunder is more and more like an FPS game without hit&kill feedback. This is especially the case when we are talking about High BR GRB matches, where everyone has stabilizer&APFSDS, and it usually takes only one shot to kill an enemy.
Today, after hours of gameplay, I started to reflect on the matches I experienced. I have been playing Italian VBC (PT2) and French VBCI-2 recently. Somehow, I felt that VBCI-2 is actually more entertaining, despite I almost had a nuke in VBC.
After some thinking, I realized the difference. Generally, I would say that the 25mm KBA-02 is a better weapon on fast armored cars, when compared with 30mm Bushmaster 2. However, this is actually where the fun ends: KBA-02 is too effective, with its 560rpm. It literally takes only one tap to kill an enemy vehicle from the side. The kill is done before I realized it. On the other hand, 30mm Bushmaster 2 has only 200rpm, and it’s sound effect is louder, clearer and more deafening. The sound effect of Bushmaster 2 is more impressive, and the slow rpm means slower kill, allowing me to actually “realize” the kill.
So this is where the idea begins. From time to time, I felt that something entertaining was missing. In ARB, I can dogfight or B&Z others and use all my skills, I can also hear the explosion when enemy plane is down, so this isn’t really a problem, at least not in lobbies below 9.3(where people use cannons to kill). And there is actually sound effect for a kill or a base destruction. But in GRB, after 4 or even 6 kills in Centauro I 105 or T-55AMD-1, I still don’t feel excited. And I think I have found the answer.
We need hit&kill feedback. I don’t really know what is needed. Maybe we need some cool sound effects, or what we need is perhaps visual effects. Either way, I think we need hit&kill feedback, especially in GRB. The coolest kill feedback I’ve ever know is Battlefield 1’s sound effect. It’s amazing.
So, what do you guys think of this idea? If there’s enough people who agree with me, I would create a topic in the suggestion section.
