- What are the in-game vehicle data provenance criteria? Why is it that players are more credible when submitting information, but the development team still relies on their own sources? What are the sources of information for the development team?
- What does the development team think is the balance of the game? Why is the KH38MT considered unbalanced as an air-to-surface missile with a range of nearly 20 km in actual combat in the game, and why is a CM502KG with similar performance to the Spike missile considered unbalanced? Why does the Soviet tech tree get more beneficial changes every time it is updated? Why is the Chinese tech tree getting weaker than average vehicles or changes with each update?
- Regarding the issue area administrators, is the development team truly effective in managing its staff? Why is it that the issue area administrators can exhibit inconsistent statements and actions? Why do different administrators display completely divergent attitudes towards issues? Are there any comprehensive requirements or rules regarding issue submissions?
The above three questions are the ones I desperately want to get answers from the War Thunder development team, and as a game development team with 24w daily active players, I think the above three questions are easy to answer. And I also hope that the development team will not be overly confident and arrogant, your achievements and achievements today are held up by players, I hope to really listen to the opinions of players, and really see the current status of your game. I don’t want the games I love to be like this …
Developers are free to ignore, reject and accept player’s report if these same reports doesn’t affect the game, at least is the most realistic answer we can have just by looking how they treat the Community Bug Report System.
CM-502KG will likely not be implemented soon, as said by Smin1080p_WT, ‘fire and forget’ missiles with Lock-on after launch (LOAL) is not planned currently:
The Developers don’t have control over the staff, this task is given to team directors only, which is obvious; while developers have some power, they’re regular interns as any other staff.
You, as me, as everyone else can’t ask directly to the developers to answer question just because you want, Community Managers is the guys that do this work, they communicate with the community, it’s a bridge between development team and community in general.
As to your primary concern…game has a team and team members have jobs to do…devs have a game to make and mods handle forums…i am guessing most players prefer devs concentrate on making the game…
It should be obvious that if devs took time answering you and the hundreds of similar questions there would be lot less time to work on the game…so they hire (or enrol) people to handle communications…
Somewhere way above my pay grade someone will select what to tell the devs from the communication with the players…it is not “confidence” or “arrogance”…it is basic management.
I know it will not sound good to you…but your question does not look so different from hundreds of similar ones that appear every day…(i personally don’t even know what the issue is as it is also above my playing level). As a personal note…every time i read something about some nation being too strong/weak i become very sceptical…
You can see here the list of updates…it includes sources for many changes to vehicles, including those that originate from PLAYER input. Of course someone has to decide what to accept and what not…
https://forum.warthunder.com/tags/c/official-news-and-information/7/client-update
As to how staff and forum works:
https://forum.warthunder.com/guidelines
As said above…you can always PM someone about your concerns…
And i guess most players prefer devs make a vehicle complete when they release the update instead of bring a broken and unrealiastic one and say grind another 40K RP to get a shiny DIRCM!
I’d prefer if Developers (specifically head developers) spoke more with the community. Obviously not to the level of the Forum Mods, but I’d love to see developers being honest and answering massive questions from the community. i.e. the proof behind aspects of the Kh-38MT (one of the most controversial missiles in the game), the future of War Thunder (Infantry?)
I wouldn’t be against developers popping on here every now and then and clarifying choices that they’ve made, especially those being discussed by hundreds or thousands over a large period of time.
That existed once:
Not sure why it stopped actually…i assume they decided to use devblogs and news more…
You can still find there some answers to repetitive questions…
So I’m asking you as a player, do you really think that the various tech trees in the game are balanced, and the top level of the various countries is balanced??? Italy did not receive better anti-aircraft weapons until the new version, but Russia has already acquired anti-aircraft vehicles with a range of more than 15 km last year. At the top level, China still uses air-to-surface missiles with a moving target lock range of only 8 km, But Russia can use three aircraft in a row with missiles that launch locked missiles at a distance close to 20km——KH38MT, if you have enough respawn points, you can even fire 16 missiles at the other side without returning to the airfield for resupply. Even as a military enthusiast, I don’t know where the source that the Su30SM can carry the Kh38MT comes from!!! Please answer me as a gamer, is this really balanced? If you’re actually playing a game, then I’m sure you’ll have a clear mental judgment about the intensity of the various nations in the game. I don’t want to make things too clear because I think it will be detrimental to your authority as a so-called official forum administrator, but I hope you don’t distort the facts when facing players and uploading and posting, which is the most basic requirement of being a forum administrator and even every forum participant, at least respecting the facts, do you agree with me?
The basic problem here is that the community helper and most forum staff which may respond, etc, do not understand your problem. To them, you are just another uninformed player posting an angry opinion. They do not experience the struggle of pushing issues on the CBR site, nor the arbitrary rules for source material, nor the malicious bug report managers. This they speak from the opposite (elevated) position, the position they are assigned to and inevitably come from.
Yes but you are assuming the moderators are not doing their job and informing gaijin devs of issues, and that if they are the devs dont care or are able to magically fix the problem. KH38 is the only real egregious example, other than that problems are hard to fix or obvious solutions come with new problems, decompression comes with larger quetimes for example. Or the problems only exist in the players mind, ie nation bias or xyz is suffering etc.
Yes and No. I think they are not perfect, but work far better than some players say. (I dont play top tier). We can (and should) discuss them and they are being adjusted all the time…just not the “i need to see the manager” level of problems IMHO.
I play many nations (Ground up to 8.0 or so) and i see no bias…some nations are better at some BRs, but no nation is best everywhere. My personal gripe is the excess of paper vehicles…
I have no authority…just a gamer trying to help out…
Please do not make things up and do not create false narrative here. All of our staff members (Community Helpers, Moderators etc) are War Thunder players. All (AFAIK) Technical Moderators who check bug reports started from regular player position and submited bug reports on their own when they were same players as you, me or anyone else. They submitted dozens of reports and they know exactly why we need to have rules and restrictions for bug reports. Without it, CBR site will be flooded with reports like “My belowed vehicle is broken, fix now!”. Good luck with working on such report.
