A new day, a new topic about WarThunder. To keep this short, here’s the issue: during gameplay, with memory at a bit over 50%, cpu usage low and gpu usage ok but with lowish frequency the game keeps stuttering like it has tourette syndrome. Every ~5-20 seconds it freezes and then starts again. Restarted the game, the computer, only helps for a short time. And then I checked the vram usage. I made 9 screenshots over the length of a match (and then after to show things “at idle” and my settings) right after I restart the game and the video driver (Win + Ctrl + Shift + B for Nvidia) to showcase the issue.
Here’s my specs:
R7 5800x3d
RTX 3080 Ti (EVGA FTW3 so no issues with cooling or whatever)
32 GB 3200MHz
1000W Corsair RMx1000 (2021) - no issues with power availability or whatever, the PSU is fine
The game starts at a bit over 6GB of VRAM. And over the course of a match (around 7-8 minutes) it balloons to 11GB. ELEVEN! Why? The textures look like dogshit in some cases and mostly they’re nothing remarkable. The game doesn’t look like 11GB of VRAM. Gaijin, pls fix.
If it was simply textures being big, the VRAM usage would not change that much. Currently, from start of game to finish of 1 match it almost doubles and stays that way. RE2R - RE4R, with render percentage at 130% and textures at 4GB are also in the region of 11GB but it’s a pretty stable 11.
If you have Resizable BAR on then I think its a combination of both the Resizable BAR and 4k textures. Also VRAM will naturally increase over the span of a game as players spawn different vehicles with 4k textures and knowing that the 3080ti has 12Gb of VRAM, at 11GB its already probably trying to reduce texture quality and stuttering a bit.
ReBAR is not enabled, game some issues with Jedi Survivor … though come to think of it, that whole game is a bunch of issues. Anyway, the game should clear a part of VRAM when not in a match. It should not need 11GB of VRAM so I could look at my rustyish 906.
game looks good, but my performance at 1080p shouldnt only by like 130fps on the old maps when my system is beefy as hell. my cpu and gpu are barely utilised it seems like the game engine either just isnt made to take advantage of modern silicone or is just very unoptimal
The game would look good if it was 2018… but it’s not 2018. I’m limited to 120, the game won’t go past that … sometimes I’m limited to 75 … even though I’ve not turned VSYNC on. Wtf Gaijin? Perhaps it’s time you hired someone competent to develop this game?
It is quite weird that at one point they added DX12 render mode into the game, and the performance was even better than the DX11 we currently have, and yet they still don’t support both.
I have encoutered this memory leak style issue in the past. (This was a year plus back, and I probably still have it happening, but just not worried anymore)
