I don’t think War Thunder would be the same game as Enlisted. Enlisted is much more focused on semi-historical battles and settings of set nations facing eachother, while War Thunder is all about representing a wide range of technology and equipment from many more nations in random battles.
So I’d argue there’s still room for War Thunder WWII or modern Enlisted eventually, it’s just not development priority yet.
I think they could handle it like the Coastal / Bluewater split, with WWI to Interwar in one, WWII in another, and then cold war to modern day in a third. I’d even say it’s a more practical split here because all of these still have significant demand while coastal games are generally me and the other two coastal fans over and over again.

I see the infantry mode more as the Enlisted with not the control of a squad but just one solider, and it’s basically duplicated elements if they have WWII part in the mode. But it’s good to have the split like Coastal / Bluewater. However they couldn’t even fairly arrange their BR, and it might be hard to do the split.

My guess in they make a tech tree for guns as its simple and connected to what we have in game and run a nations arsenal system you can pick any weapon you want and modify it if it could be modified. Each Weapon would have a power rating (BR) and by clocking that up you increase the BR.
(This would allow premium stuff like for example the Type 97 sniper rifle where used by allied forward observation / infiltration as a weapon like truly equipped with them as the gun shot would blend in keeping them safe.)
But overall with weapons like the StG 44 being still effective to this day the only issue being ammo though there have been modifications and also general age issues. Some have been bolted to remote weapons stations and heavily modified as to basically become a machine gun to be a stay behind weapons so life span is not a issue (WW2 end did not end its guns unlike most tanks T-34 functionally over by 1970s out side of some situations). You would likely see players who like a rifle using it in higher BRs and spread though out many trees as many nations have used random rifles for different reasons.
One way Gaijin could make this work is era equipment where you get a set uniform (ww1, ww2, Cold War, etc.) and you can use equipment for that era only. Basically a Rank I gun cannot be equipped to a rank IV trooper. But you will have to live with some sort of era mixing for sake of ease of play a StG 44 is effective as a AK-47 so ya.
I would prefer a arsenal system as if you like a weapon for its handling you can bring it with you to any BR it would be realistic as well.
North Vietnamese militias receiving training with Arisaka rifle
Its going to be a mess so we will have to see the rules Gaijin come up with

Yeah that is basically like Enlisted where techtree exist and people need to grind, and I couldn’t remember if they got BR but it seems they have rank range like if your squad is armed with rankIII wepons they give find the match that most player equiped with rankIII weapons.

With too much WWII weapon we just need to grind more till the top mordern weapon. And also if they want to play WWII weapon they may play Enlisted to experience WWII, and WT now can start with the weapon after WWII or straightly go to mordern quipment. I just think it’s a bit duplicated.

I’d like to see WW2 infantry.
I’m not going to play enlisted no matter what, however as we see Gajin is making WT infantry slightly different and maybe Enlisted could stay team-tactical FPS with bots and WT could become true battlefield experience for all eras, not only post-WW2.
