I agree I like the new effects. But everything is just… I don’t know. Like I’m now wearing two sets headset pads instead of 1 set. Everything is dampened/muffled across the board. Not just proximity. Everything.

I apologize, of course, but as far as I remember, the 203mm is already a cruiser caliber. Wouldn’t a shell with 16 kg of explosives hitting the side of any tank’s turret scatter its tracks and rollers everywhere? As far as I remember, a TM-62 anti-tank mine, which only contains 7 kg of explosives, is enough for that. And how would the turret ring feel after that? We’re not talking about the crew, who will be looking for funny pictures and peeing themselves for the rest of their lives after that, if they survive. It’s all somehow rooted in the same place where your logo originates.
I think even some armour plates wouldve been blown open, exposing thd interior od the entire tank… Which IRL sometimes happened to Tigers and Panthers bring hit by HE shells of the SU-152
Adding my experience to your comment here:
I took a break between the T-34-85 Partisan event back in May and came back to the game just recently.
Back during the event, the game worked fine and sounds were normal.
Now:
-I cannot hear tanks behind me. At all. Only when I start to turn my camera do the sounds START to render in very quietly.
-I can only ‘hear’ in a 30 degree cone directly in front of me.
-I can hear enemies Machinegunning at the start of the match from spawn, only if I’m looking in their direction. Because for some reason MG’s are insanely loud now from a distance.
-I can hear enemy tanks that sound like they’re RIGHT BESIDE me, when they’re a good 50-100m away behind multiple buildings in some cases.
-Planes are basically silent.
This game CANNOT put out an update without BREAKING the game for so many people. Then there’s plenty of people who have zero problems. (Or they just don’t notice them).
10 year veteran of this game, btw.
This update changed the character of some sounds – they changed the sound files but not what actually triggers them to play. A few of the issues you’re describing aren’t bugs, they are intentional sound design introduced this April in the 2.45.1.50 update. Check out the ground vehicles section of the changelog. In my opinion the sound distance solution they ended up with is pretty bad.
This one might actually be an issue with your sound setup. You should be able to hear shots in a 2km radius around you. This was a GOOD sound decision to keep this.
From the 2.45.1.50 changelog:
In 2.45.1.50 they addressed issues with engine and track sounds. They focused on how buildings occluded sound and how sound was linked to keen vision and spotting. Their solution was to cut off engine and track sounds completely beyond 215 meters. This was a BAD sound decision with HUGE impacts to gameplay. You should be able to start hearing engines and tracks further out. Also the sound cut off was implemented poorly.
From the 2.45.1.50 changelog:
Here’s the most relevant forum post about I’ve seen about this. It’d be cool to eventually get this changed. @SilentTracker, maybe you can add this link to your list of links you are bringing attention to?
Snails!!! What the hell??? Why do bushes have to be placed on all the vehicles in a new way??? And WHY CAN’T THEY BE PLACED NOW??? Damn, every patch is bound to break something, stupid company!!!
Why did you sell them if now they can only be stuck on your butt???
The person who decided that this map is suitable for WW2 tanks should be fired
Spoiler
This sounds A LOT like an issue of conflicting surround sound settings.
Do you have surround sound activated in windows/audio software at the same time?
Do you have 7.1 set in game when your headphones/speakers can only do 5.1 or stereo?
Edit:
I had a similar issue where basically all sound disappeared in a cone behind me and in front of me due to having 7.1 set when my headphones could only do 5.1 and after that change i still had som issues due to conflicting surround sound settings so i turned off all except one of those and i have since not had any issues.
I have never chamged any sound settings in some 5+ years, but like 2-3 Major updates ago, sound behind you just didnt exist no more from engines.

Wow what have you done again to the sound. It was nearly perfect the patch day. The sound was at it’s best the first patch day.
Then you started tweaking it and making it worse and worse. It was still ok yesterday.
But as of today ? Horrible sounds. Why do you need to change them everyday ? Today they sound like crap, sounds from 1997 sound better.
It was nearly perfect the first patch day. Why do you have to destroy them again. Just roll it back to what it was at the start of the patch.
Atm they are the worst sounds I ever heard in any game in the past 28 years. Meanwhile the first day sounds and mainly artilerry were close to the best sounds I ever heard in games… how can you destroy them in few days.
This sound needs to be fixed ASAP… I had to take off my headphones during my second battle… At first I lowered the sound setting from 34 to 20 but this is just horrible.
These sounds hurt my ears physically. I had to take off my headphones in middle of the second battle today because I started feeling dizzy.
I wanted to complete the ongoing event for the new vehicle but I can not with this health hazard.
It was ok yesterday and perfect the first patch day.
Either you need to roll them back or shut down the servers until you fix them. This hurts and I am not a fan of playing WT without sound.
idk man my ps1 games from childhood were pretty bad in audio quality
Yeah but still better than this. It is a serious health hazard atm. I was feeling dizzy after 15mins of gameplay.
And I am talking mostly about PCs, e.g. mechwarrior 3 - perfect game graphically and sounds were perfect for 1999. And miles ahead compared to these sounds in WT atm.
They were great the first day of patch though.
I think that may be more you than the game. Ive had a nasty fly the last several days and still been fine playing
Maybe but it was fine and perfect yesterday.
And the sounds were good. Now I can not distinct anything.
as far as i can tell they havent tuned anything today. your headphones may be on their death bed
I will test them in few different games and applications give me a minute.
Ok so first I tried some other games and videos on youtube. Then I restarted my PC and tried them again.
Everything is working fine.
Then I started WT again and it is still horrible and I can 100% assure you that the sounds were changed. You can test them on autocannons e.g. go into gunner view and start shooting. It sounds horrible like the bass is too strong and “artificial” idk how to describe it. Explosions sound like petards, planes sound like lawnmowers etc. Engines on tanks have some kind of tinnitus to them which ring in your ears now.
Additionally half the sounds feel like they ar cut off too soon, shooting, tank explosions, boms…
I had a battle and at the end I had to take my headphones off.
I wanted to grind the event for 35K score for the new vehicle but this is unaccetable. I might try to do it through the pain with a break after every battle but I will rather not. Health is more important than anything and hurting myself over WT is the last thing I would ever want to do.
