War Thunder "Tusk Force" - Changelog

I will test them in few different games and applications give me a minute.

Ok so first I tried some other games and videos on youtube. Then I restarted my PC and tried them again.
Everything is working fine.

Then I started WT again and it is still horrible and I can 100% assure you that the sounds were changed. You can test them on autocannons e.g. go into gunner view and start shooting. It sounds horrible like the bass is too strong and “artificial” idk how to describe it. Explosions sound like petards, planes sound like lawnmowers etc. Engines on tanks have some kind of tinnitus to them which ring in your ears now.
Additionally half the sounds feel like they ar cut off too soon, shooting, tank explosions, boms…
I had a battle and at the end I had to take my headphones off.

I wanted to grind the event for 35K score for the new vehicle but this is unaccetable. I might try to do it through the pain with a break after every battle but I will rather not. Health is more important than anything and hurting myself over WT is the last thing I would ever want to do.

I mean, the sounds are absolutely messed up, sure, but calling them a health hazard is a little over the top. I find it very hard figuring out which way a vehicle is coming now.

That is part of the problem gameplay wise yes.
But it physically hurts my ears and makes me dizzy after some time.

The damage from the HEAT shells from the snails is excellent))
It would probably have been easier to ram it, and that would have been more effective. Shame on you…

They did, actually. Though I am not sure what exactly has been changed about them.

Thanks for the in-depth reply.

Last I played (around the T-34 Partisan event time period) the sound was flawless, and it’s by far my most important tool in the game for doing well. (Sound that is).

There is no issues with my sound setup, as every other game I play have no issues. Playing with both IEM headphones and a speaker setup, switching between the two.

Appreciate the reply!

No issues with my sound setup with any other games.

In-game settings are set to Stereo.

I haven’t seen anyone else with this ‘cone of hearing’ issue, so I suppose it’s only on my end. Not too sure what to do about it. I can barely hear people behind me at all, and can only hear people in a 30 degree arc in front of me.

Neither had i, only in War Thunder :P

(Disclaimer: Don’t take the below info as truth, it’s just my personal knowledge/help and i don’t know any extra information or have any extra knowledge because of my Game Master title, we only handle in-game chat and name bans)

I would double check windows sound settings for surround.
right click the speaker icon in the taskbar, click “sound settings”, scroll down to and click “More sound settings”, find the device you are using and right click it and click “properties”. There are two tabs you can look in, the first is “advanced” to see if it’s two channels selected and if you have the two checkboxes that allow for application control over sound selected. The second tab is “spatial sound” to see if it’s off or on, try changing it to the other and see if that changes anything in the game.

:)

I must commend gaijin for the new design of Eastern Europe.
It is a very realistic-looking map with a wonderful autumnal feel.

Finally, there are some woods here that can be used for cover.
Small depressions and hills that can be used for cover and rear positions are excellent for tank combat.

More of this, please!

I have it too. I hear tanks fine in about a 270° degree arc. Tanks behind me are inaudible even if they get really close. They only become audible if no other vehicle (allied or enemy) is in the vicinity.

I’m not surprised - in this game, by tradition, only bad things happen.

A phenomenal game from me. No heavy metal hero. Gaijin it’s time to revert the change to realistic and sim. I state again the 50% and 67% increases to naval and ground realistic difficulty to get this reward was absolutely unhinged.

Absolutely. Plus, it’s part of a challenge for the current BP (“The Making of a Legend”).
It’s like changing the rules while you’re playing a game.

I wonder which snail came up with the bright idea that adding SAMs or ZSUs with missiles to vehicle ranks that overlap with aircraft and helicopters, which have no countermeasures, would make players have fun? The entire gameplay of such an anti-aircraft gunner boils down to standing at the spawn point and pressing the launch button at the right moment, a sort of “press X to win.” Are you serious? To use aircraft in combined battles, you need to earn at least 700 points for them, and it’s not worth it because you’ll get shot down by the first noob who picks up an anti-aircraft gun for less than the price of a light tank.
Complete nonsense.

Yes the ground players, I do not care if CAS suffers in GRB, that is a good thing imo

The amount of people I’ve seen recently who are choosing to step away from this game following this update is surprising honestly. Almost all of them are saying the same thing too; that the game is just in a…bad and “not fun” state. And I know my observation and experience is just one small aspect of a large community, but there have also been a few CC’s who had also expressed a general downturn in the state of the game.

The common points I have seen made is the economy feels “repressive”. How even with premium account time, premium vehicles, and the five extra RP for top tier lines, it just feels too underwhelming. Additionally, many are also saying top tier feels like a mad house with increasingly modern weapons being forced to play on maps that were designed for ww2 content. Jets can’t spawn in without immediately having to dive to avoid the modern SPAA systems but then helicopters with their new fire-and-forget weapon systems are also oppressing the same modern SPAA. MBTs feel…overly modelled and unbalanced compared to aircraft. One or two spall fragments knocks out your turret basket, you might as well just J’out. You can no longer fight back after even the most glancing of shots. Air Battles and Sim Battles feel abandoned, with almost no new mechanics or assets in a while now it seems.

The general consensus in the communities I can see (and again, I’m not trying to speak for everyone else’s, just want Im seeing) is that the game is just not in a good state right now. And with all the major titles set to come out going into this holiday season, I dont think I cant fault someone uninstalling this for the likes of Battlefield 6, Call of Duty, Arc Raiders, Silk Song, etc.

And the sour part of it all as that I don’t see Gaijin changing or tweaking the recipe anytime soon. I don’t know about anyone else but the feedback loop feels like a one-way ticket to the shredder box 80% of the time. The fact that they said “we have never changed a game decision [paraphrasing] based on the actions of one group” right after pulling the VT4 from Thailand because the Chinese player based review tanked the game hits the ear badly in every way. We are still waiting for a follow up to that. It’s…just not a good look.

For those of you having fun, genuine kudos to you. But I don’t think the population of the those dissatisfied with War Thunder right now are as small or insignificant as some might think.

Good??? How???

Poor map design, poor economy, poor bug report managers, bug reports get cherry picked, player base goes up, yet content per update has gone down (and for free to play players, content per update has pretty much halved). Bug reports from several years ago, should not exist. Every problem that Gaijin has, could literally be solved if they actually asked for player feedback, and then listened and changed things based on that. How can you add a new vehicle in an update, and yet it still is missing tons of stuff? Aren’t these updates planned a year out? Is no time spent doing research on a vehicle? They just need to get the community involved more everywhere, because they clearly cant handle it themselves. If they let the community help make models, then more unique content would enter the game (and it’d be cheaper). If they let the community help with bug reports, then things from several years ago, which aren’t prioritized despite their age, would finally get fixed. If you get the community involved in map making, then you can actually make good maps. Obviously community involvement would have to be limited and monitored, but I can guarantee you it wouldn’t be hard to find people who genuinely want to help.
