also rangefinders are very bugged, they often say “300” but the actual distance is 750
Snapshot from the Great War gamemode, my last match. Almost all busy ratting enemy players in Garfords. No one cares about trench warfare and zones. Just camping an killing. Thats what the gamemode became after Garford stopped interacting with the ground terrain types. Hovering over trenches which are like double as wide than Garford’s wheels are. Also it doesn’t lose speed when breaking through barriers/barbed wire. Just the deepest mud slows you down, a bit. I don’t get it. They really killed the whole WW1 game mode with it.
I’d like to keep the Zeppelin. Ger has no air reward. And also no reward for the Jutland Battle event. Thats a bit lame.
I got one for the He-100D-1
Why?!? They’re garbage.
That’s because their flight model is unrealistic
They would still be garbage.
An reproduction of the Fokker D.VII. incorporates original engine and parts.
How odd… It doesn’t fall from the sky after the smallest turn… It seems to actually retain energy!
Indeed. The Fm is dreadful.
Since I doubt more tweaks will come for the event, I might as well give my closing thoughts.
What I liked
Atmosphere was top notch, gritty and grim, it shows that someone at Gaijin still has talent when it comes to map design, which the main game lacks, too many maps are way too pristine for a war game.
Infantry was a refreshing touch to the vibes of the game, it actually felt like a war was going on instead of the fantasy tank on tank only world of the main game.
What I disliked
Infantry played no role in the end, their presence didn’t have any impact on the outcome of the game, players weren’t encouraged to defend or attack infantry in the slightless, there were no rewards for attacking or defending infantry.
It would’ve been more impactful if your ticket bleed or spawn points were directly tied to the amount of infantry alive, this way it would have encouraged people to attack infantry or interact more with it.
Tweaks to the Garford ruined the event entirely, making it the fastest most stealthy vehicle with good firepower meant nobody would ever want to play anything else, just ratting and sniping behind cover.
Making tanks like the Chamond bright colored in the most dark and muddy map was asinine.
Planes felt underpowered, and would fall out of the sky on the smallest turn.
Closing thoughts
It goes without saying that the event was extremely unbalanced, but it’s WW1, there was a reason it was reserved for an April’s fool event, so I don’t get why people act surprised that tractors with field guns from 120 years ago can’t punch trough armor at all. I still enjoyed the even during the first few days and I hope this infantry test doesn’t go to waste, and it is implemented in the main game in a new game mode somehow because GRB/GSB are growing stale and it’s sucking the enjoyment out of this game.
PS
LET US KEEP THE ZEPPELIN PLEASE
And that never saw a tank in its entire life. But they HAD to put in a russian bs vehicle
Just as the main mode, rat tanks ruin the game
Thats reeeeeally annoying. In fact it’s not bugged, it’s just that there is an obstacle between you and the tank, so the commander sees the tank but actually gives you the distance between you and the obstacle (wood, barbed wire, broken wall etc)
If the enemy capped a point, and infantry moved in, you needed to destroy the infantry in order to uncap it and take it. The infantry also toss grenades at your vehicle.
The Chamond had a was severe disadvantage against the A7V, which only needed to one tap you to destroy the 8 crew. 18 crew took some time unless you got the perfect hit. I shot the commanders position many times and the round showed it went down and into the crew compartment, but only a set amount were killed.
Gaijin think it is fair bc A7V can also be one-tapped by Chamond if we aim for an ammo rack.
While A7V can literally one-tap Chamond by hitting anywhere on the front.
Even if we exclude that A7V has a better and wider gun angle than Chamond.
In the end this didn’t matter, the event was just GRB with a skin slapped on top. It should’ve been a PvE event, where you punch through infantry lines while defending your own infantry from machine gun nests, and field guns. It would’ve been much more authentic and immersive, like someone said here, Gaijin is a one-trick pony, god forbid we have any imagination or break the team death match mold.
It would’ve been more impactful if your ticket bleed or spawn points were directly tied to the amount of infantry alive, this way it would have encouraged people to attack infantry or interact more with it.
But the chamond now has better fire rate and better muzzle velocity which makes aiming easier + it got a mobility buff aswell.
The Mark 4 and 5 are the real bad tanks now
My last game on allied side, scored 8 kills with this thing. They never knew what hit them. Sad what the gamemode had become at the end. The buffs to the Garford were over the top and I really don’t understand who though its was a good idea to grant it hover mode over trenches. IRL you woud have gotten stuck in the first trench you want to cross. WT should have at least basic realism. There’s nothing more un-WW1 than a 30km/ fast truck wrecking havoc behind the Western Front.
Better muzzle velocity made aiming harder imo.
You cannot lob shells over cover as effectively and with the 2 second rangefinder, shell velocity is inconsequential for stationary targets.
Well, I was meant back on day 1…
I agree that Chamond also has some advantages today.
