War Thunder is becoming more and more boring and frustrating, especially at top tier. You can be flying low over mountains and suddenly have five missiles chasing you. Players just climb high, fire missiles, and then die. Where’s the fun in that? It’s the same thing over and over again.

Right now, the game feels boring because aircraft can’t do what they were actually designed for. Take the A-10C or the F-117, for example. The A-10 is meant to be a ground-attack aircraft, but in the game it’s mostly used in PvP against other players and it performs poorly in that role. And what about the F-117? It’s designed for bombing, but what are you supposed to bomb? Most players focus only on PvP. You can’t really fight back either, because you don’t have proper armament. On top of that, both the A-10 and F-117 are slow, so there’s usually something like a MiG-21 right behind you, ready to destroy you.

War Thunder also showed signs of being pay-to-win in “Nuclear Thunder.” Why? I’ll explain. They banned the Su-33, and then released a new squadron MiG-29 with almost the same missiles. It feels like they did that to push players into buying it, which is really frustrating.

Players in War Thunder seem completely focused on PvP now. But “Nuclear Thunder” was supposed to be about attacking ground targets and enemy bases. They even added anti-radiation bombs, yet almost nobody uses them. Hardly anyone destroys bases or ground forces why is that?

The game could make these objectives more meaningful. For example, they could reduce rewards for shooting down player aircraft (like 1,000 SL and 100 RP) and increase rewards for destroying ground targets and bases. That way, air-to-air combat would feel more like defense, while the main focus would shift to mission objectives.

Maybe then players would realize there’s more to the game than just radar and IR missiles. They might actually start doing CAS (close air support) missions. Right now, it’s just frustrating I try to attack ground targets with an A-10, and suddenly a MiG-29 shows up with only missiles, kills me, and then goes on to wipe out my teammates. It’s just not fun anymore.

They arent “almost the same” missiles, they are vastly different. This point doesnt make sense because the squadron M29 is 13.7, way above the 13.0 limit

because AA shoots them down thats why

my experience playing the russian side has been extremely fun, i even got to work together to kill most of their airfields with some random dudes but US side was impossible. USSR is alot more focused on the objective than US who just rush Air-to-Air kills (and fail)

This gamemode is very fun when you can coordinate with people to complete the objectives. Change your approach and flank around and i promise you it’ll be fun

At the same time, you haven’t even played 3,500 battles and you’re already grinding the top tier, which is the least fun part of the game.
You should enjoy the lower battle ranks more if you’re not having fun in the higher ranks.

If you are bored with ARB come play sim. WW2 air sim is a lot of fun.

WingalingDragon, TrainingDays, Sheriff’s Sim Shack have some great tutorials to get involved.

No hotas? No vr? No headtracking? No problem! Mouse and keyboard is more than viable! I fly with mouse and keyboard using wasd for head controls and i do quite well both in solo open fights and tournaments too.

My exact experience last night.

Worked with a guy (I was nuking in MiG23, he had Su24M) and I’d lead in and nuke the af distracting all the SPAA, and he’d follow me in finishing it all off. Let the masses keep queuing up for USA, it’s quick easy games for Russia in Nuclear Thunder.

I found the game mode so much fun on both sides. For Russia, I found the free Mig-23 the be incredibly good with the R-24Rs, I managed to drop 2 of the 2500 sp nukes in one day. For the US, I tend to spam the smaller nukes which gets a ton of score, the F-4E is also a very nice plane

How is Nuclear Thunder pay to win?

The squadron Mig-29 is banned from Nuclear Thunder as well.
The best aircraft for Nuclear Thunder are Mig-29 and F-15A, tech tree aircraft.

Nuclear Thunder isn’t just about attacking ground targets… who told you that lie?

And your solution is to nerf rewards? Wow…

Also, play the lower bracket if you don’t want to see F-15A and Mig-29.

When you get tired of Top Tier in War Thunder try dropping back down to the World War II tiers. You will really feel how the game system is optimized for WWII vehicles and aircraft. If you are still not enjoying it consider buying a flight stick and giving Simulator battles a try. Once you get used to it check out DCS as well!

I feel the same, but for completely different and nearly opposite reasons.

I’m essentially a ground player, mainly a top tier one. In my view, this section of the game has been left pretty much abandoned for the past couple of years compared to air, particularly top tier.

Air Ranks VIII-IX have got like 70 planes in the same timeframe Ground Rank VIII has got like 3 MBTs…

Ground Rank VIII was released and advertised as such a big deal back in December 2023, yet all it has amounted for is the new SAMs (I’ll give them that) brought only to counter the air and CAS spam they’ve been adding.

I wish they would pay some attention to ground top tier… not only in terms of new additions, but also when it comes to finally fixing issues, bugs and inaccuracies of currently ingame vehicles which have been unaddressed for up to 6 years now.

I can’t play Nuclear Thunder thanks to my worthless computer, but it looks like a pretty fun and refreshing experience. The grind may be awful the higher you go, and that’s why I’ve given up and just stick around 8.0, which is my fav BR.

Oh, yeah, I nearly forgot about BMPT and how it makes playing anything but Russia orders of magnitude more frustrating…

I am someone who had been playing War Thunder for 2h on average a day since 2014, and now, for the first time in these 12 years, some days pass without me even logging into the game.

That’s just how bad it’s getting for me…

I was looking forward to the April Fools event and maybe ground event vehicle; but it turns out all was once again air high tier-focused, so…. Skiiiiiiip.

And I bet next update will also ONCE again be que high tier focused. Maybe bring 10 more jets and anti-radiation missiles just for good measure to keep stomping on ground vehicles (the new SAMs almost made top tier CAS balanced and we can’t have that).

i get bored from top tier a lot to it’s not healthy to play top tier all of the time.
i avoid top tier because i think it need more balance.
try playing low tier it’s more fun or custom battles they very fun if you bored from war thunder there other games i can recommend you to play like Sim 4 and minecraft !
