War Thunder may have some problems that we and the developers are suggesting and continuously trying to solve, But there is a very specific problem that we did not see, Lets call it the “revenge problem”
While dont get me wrong, Revenge in war thunder can provide you with extra SP, and possibly SL, But there is one wrong thing in it, and its the Killer camera tracking.
It provides you with the kill cam of the person who killed you, Providing you with the precise Location, Vehicle type, and Angle of attack, In reality one bullet and you go kaput, There is no “kill camera” in real life ( except the one that u cant see by yourself since u were kaput ), That is not realistic neither suitable for a game who It, and its playerbase seek for realism, balance, and equalization in specific things, And a kill cam in war thunder that exists in any mode makes the game looks like its Arcade focused style and not forwarded to realism in that specific path that i mentioned.
So, The solution is pretty netty straightforward: Remove the Kill cam → Constant Revenge problem solved → Makes it more realistic.
Or just make the death screen a black screen so it will be more reasonable to the kaput in real life.
Also, its funny how a specific part of the playerbase are seeking into mechanic abuse and not trying to actually fix it.
And then when there is something that they want\to do in game that is not actually presented or not presented properly they keep asking for it until it gets excessively unrealistic ( this situation is not or somewhat related to what i am saying but hope u got it ).
I haven’t used the kill cam to know someone’s position in years.
Making the screen black would just be visually jarring.
These ideas won’t remove revenge bombing from already skilled players, but only make learning the maps more difficult for newcomers.
So I oppose.
I’d rather be revenge bombed than stunt learning for newer players.
I think the appropriate approach would be to only show the trajectory of the bullet that killed you, and not immediately show the enemy tank with that tracking shot. Of course, it’s a very polarized topic here, but I believe that in the end, everyone has taken a 1000lb bomb to the head from someone they just killed. But beyond that, I believe that removing the death cameras completely could make learning more difficult for beginners.
Well, I wont prefer that personally, because its somewhat close to che*ting in game ( yes i censored it ), and i wont like that pretty much since i like the way war thunder works and its details, and its realism specifically is amazing, so i wont want to destroy it by features that makes no sense in real life.
I think showing the bullet that killed you is fine, but yeah it doesnt need to actually show the location of the person who shot it as well, it should only show the last 10-20% of the bullets journey to you
in arcade a skull appears above the name of that player who killed you, after you destroyed 3+ tanks you start getting bombed into oblivion because of this
there are days where i get more vehicles destroyed by aircraft than by tanks in ground battle
On one hand, I get it, and it does resolve that issue.
On the other, it also helps mitigate campers, someone in a stupidly OP hidden spot, just sniping away, with no one knowing where they are is just as bad as revenge killing.
So maybe a middle ground?
Still show the round impacting your tank, and maybe a few seconds of travel time before impact, so from that you could in theory figure out direction of travel, but dont actually show where the enemy tank is
Having something like, the round quickly leaving the barrel and travelling to your tank within, what, 2 seconds. Then it slows down and shows how the shell killed you like typical.
I would argue, the people that do revenge, dont need the killcam anyway. it takes 2 min to come back with a plane, i need to scan the ground anyway to find you. And what killed you is showed in the killfeed anyway.
