That’s the problem. All you need to do is go to the player’s profile and click a couple buttons. The chat history of that player gets automatically added to the complaint. It takes what, 20 seconds?
I also object to the “think of the children” mentality. Older children often have the filthiest mouths and it’s not like little Timmy will learn slurs from the WT chat, especially when he plays GTA and the like.
This game is already anti social enough, take away any banter and its absolute void of any communication.
Did the guy telling everyone in my GRB this match that he “just got done beating his dishwasher” need to let everyone know? Probably not, did anyone suffer any psychological trauma from this? Probably not, but at least for that brief moment at the start of the match it felt like I was playing with actual people and not bots.
I had one threaten to m@#lest us and beat us, and it was the funniest thing ever because compared to what he was saying, he wasn’t an actual competent ARB pilot.
Still, I agree. There should be more stricter chat rules.
Not quite sure I have experience with a game where chat bans aren’t report based.
What I do have is experience with moderation which is completely arbitrary, where players can report someone just out of spite and thus trigger bans, just to troll, with zero possibility to appeal.
It has a very limited use, I find too. But the problem here is that a majority of chat offenses are contex related and simply filtering some words never covers everything.
I checked a few of the participants here that ask for stricter moderation. However, as far as I can see, their contribution by reporting actual offense is at best “moderate”, if you allow me this pun, and doesn’t reflect the claimed severity of the issue.
How to detect the offense automatically?
We have a staggered system in place, which takes into account severity of the offense, and punishment history, and we hand out punishments accordingly.
The literally tens of thousands reports processed monthly and chat bans issues by the GM team doesn’t support those accusations.
Fix how, please?
That isn’t Gaijin’s approach. As mentioned above, filters have only very limited use, and the backbone of our moderation is player reports.
As to actual chat moderation as in “live” chat moderation, I truly wonder how people think this should work in a game with hundreds of games and thus hundreds of chats going on at the same time.
Thank you all for your feedback and for participating in the discussion about moderating in-game chat. We understand the concerns that have been raised, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences and suggestions.
We are actively reviewing our current moderation systems and are committed to improving the in-game experience for all players.
