War Thunder is not a "sniping game"

I found this screenshot in a Facebook group and had to comment. How can War Thunder not be a sniping game? When you’re grinding, the goal is to stay alive and score as many points as possible. Rushing doesn’t help you progress; it’s risky to go for it and end up dying quickly, earning little RP. It’s ironic considering we have premiums in 11.3. I play with the Leo 2A4M, which is basically made of paper, and I usually stay back. When the opportunity arises, I camp at the respawn to grind faster.

If the WT isn’t a sniping game, the way to earn RP quickly should change to encourage players to rush! Reducing the size of maps and trying to prevent tanks from climbing rocks isn’t a good idea; the maps were perfect before. What’s the need to mess with them? The ideal solution would be to create a system to avoid repeating so many maps and to create new ones, without altering the ones that are already good.

Fake screenshot of a map + intentionally misrepresented post.
The fake screenshot portrays a sniping game on Flanders, which is ironic.
And the quote of Pacifica is a personal view of theirs which is NOT anti-sniping as they’ve clarified later.

War Thunder is not a sniping game, it’s also not a brawling game, it’s a game about military vehicles.

If war thunder have us “realistic maps” we would have air EC size maps, teams of 120+, way more realistic vehicle specs, specified platoons, dedicated VOIP servers, and player used artillery.

(I’d love to see all of this By the way gaijin!)

Maps that are restricted like this (this map is fake, but there are some with restrictions) hurt gameplay in my opinion. I’m of the belief if someone fairly outplayed you, its fine, whether that’s by flanking, great positioning, or using their vehicle properly.

Because at the end of the day if people sit there and snipe without doing anything and not covering routes to objectives, they’ll only hurt their rewards and team.

However is there a link to the original post?

Wont ever happen gaijin just seems deadset on making maps overall worse and forcing specific playstyles and i dont trust them to make a new map that isn’t another city map everyone hates its still such a shame they removed literally the only good small maps being old port novo and white rock and just started churning out garbage CQC maps like sweden, abandoned town, alaska, sun city and reworked american desert that consist solely of corner camping because its impossible to move anywhere

War Thunder is a sniping game. Anyone who thinks otherwise is confused. Its also a flanking game, and a brawling game, and a pushing game. Its a however you want to play it game.

Many different tactics and styles of gameplay exist and should be encouraged to co exist.

Most of the map changes have funnelled 30 players into a few narrow lanes where you have to go and fight front on enemies frontally and play peek a boom wars in a game where you can die in 1 hit, and massively favours the defender while disadvantaging the person pushing.

That style of gameplay has been forced into most of the maps that were changed. Sure, it can exist. some people like that style even though I certainly don’t. But it shouldn’t be the ONLY promoted gameplay style.

@_Lalo_Salamanca we already argued this back when it was first posted, Pacifica sometimes has good points but this was not one of them. This I would say was probably one of the most biased comments in my opinion as it was based on their personal experience rather than on the facts of how tanks operated whenever it was a turretless tank, your tank destroyers, or your standard turret-ed tanks. Which are all categories of tanks. At the end of the day, that is. This includes IFVs, BMPs, etc.

But for this case, tanks often engaged at distances. Close quarters were not as common for tank battles. Especially in places such as Africa, Iwo Jima, the entire Western Front, and some battles on the Eastern Front. I don’t recall if they admitted they were in the wrong, since it’s been a long time but it doesn’t matter.

Over all tanks fought at all different distances design for many different purposes but at the end when it was forced into a different situation it did the primary job which is serving as a tank.

I’ve yet to see these lanes people speak about in my thousands of matches since these changes.
My banned map currently is Seversk [I don’t respect it enough to make sure that’s spelled right], an unchanged map.

The only map with no flanking routes was removed from rotation: Port Novo.

I’ve been flanking and spanking on every map got.
Yes, a minority of maps got red zones in areas that would be better off being redone.
At worst my flanking routes stay the same.

Sniping is not fun in WT with the way the gamemodes are designed. The map in that image is completely false too.

It isn’t a cqc game, either. It is factually not a sniping game, but rather a tank/plane/ship combat game.

When they got to spots they shouldn’t be, it is a good idea. There’s currently one on vietnam where you can overlook a huge portion of the map, and it should be removed.

Hell no.

Maps should always be changing to be made better. Change is good, ask for new changes instead of reverting old ones.

People overexaggerate how map “lanes” are on the forums, but nearly every map has 4-6 main “lanes” that one takes at the start of the battle. However, lane ends up having many branches, and they aren’t super well-defined either.
