Imho that is the root cause of your thinking that there would be something wrong with war thunder which has to be fixed.
I claim that wt looks like it is because the majority of players want it exactly the same way as it is right now.
Why?
This picture:
…is representing a fish with a very special short term memory.
The majority of new players has an attention span equally to the quality of the short term memory of Dory.
The game is adjusted to their needs and is basically a plain simple vehicle based shooter for minors optimized to please them - and not any kind of long term player which demands complexity, more realistic game play and other things.
Do you really think a company in the market with millions of data of player behaviour (and most important their willingness to spend money) is not able to determine what they have to do in order to make money?
I would even claim that their data allows them to predict the player behaviour of > 90% of their new playing and paying customers long before those players go a certain way or make a certain investment.
The only valid question in this thread should be:
Are there really so few players active in wt which requests changes aiming to increase the requirements to play (more demanding game play and things like those you have listed) that gaijin sees no benefit to invest money to introduce such changes for them?
Or is just so that their predictions of the income the would create with any kind of “veteran mode” (maybe based on a subscription model) produces a negative business case (expected income is lower than necessary investments for those changes) and would endanger their main business model (easy money with kids with access to credit cards) - just think about “cannibalism effects”…
This is nonsense.
Even if i share basically all of your views regarding the current state of the game and the average IQ of the player base, you are imho way too smart to deny that the game has lot of unused potential.
Basically the myriads of players which stays here for a short time will be replaced by new myriads of players doing exactly the same.
The only challenge i see for gaijin is to extend the time to implement all possible weapon systems for as long as possible - just in order to keep this infinite loop alive.
Yeah agree with you, that fish is 95% of the community and 99% in the Forum itself. They braindead people without have the widescreen of potential in this game
It… literally isnt, and it does put you at a disadvantage in some cases. Lower-end stuff already has a fairly heavy disadvantage compared to proper gaming PCs, and trust me, I know.
ULQ is mainly used to get the competitive edge and ruins the experience for people who are not great at spotting, but want to at least have a level playing field in Ground RB. PCs that require ULQ are setups from 2011-2012 at most (PCs, not office laptops), you can buy something better for price of a bucket of KFC chicken.
When there will be a game dev similar in values to Arrowhead and Larian studios. Make money, but not all the money, just enough to keep it running with treating playerbase right and fair.
Then Warthunder will vanish into oblivion and nobody will look twice.
Which is a surprisingly large amount of people, and one of the reasons why WT is so appealing is, quite honestly, because it can run on a toaster. There are definitely issues with ULQ, but some of them are genuinely impossible to fix [Shadows being one of them lmao]
If there are any suggestions to improve it though, I would like to hear it.
During the Christmas holidays I had to play on a toaster that couldn’t run Word (Don’t ask, I don’t know either) and with ULQ I managed to get my dailies done etc… ULQ saved me there.
Problem is when players use high-end stuff on ULQ settings…they get no disadvantage from low-end performance and all the advantages of ULQ…
I play on PS4/5 and they give me autoaim to compensate for the lack of mouse, with two important “features”: (1) All players can use it and (2) It still maintains the mouse advantage (albeit lower)
I understand ULQ is a need and i agree it should exist…but players using it SHOULD NOT have an advantage…
Me as well when my GPU fried so I had to play on internal one to time when I was able to buy new computer. On ULQ I was able get playable FPS (20 - 30 FPS).
Ditch ULQ altogether.
Seriously, if anyone is into gaming, he has access to something better than 10$ PC a homeless man sold for 3 packs of cigarettes during covid or laptop stolen from office during Hurricane Katrina.
That is not an option and will have a substantial impact, so no. I was asking on anything that you wold like changed, not wondering whether you wanted it removed entirely.
Eh, I think to a point some things are unavoidable [Shadows, for example], but I would be fine if we could narrow the gap. I do think there will always be a gap - it is inevitable, there will always be that “optimal” graphics setting.
Anything specifically you think could change about it, though?
