The only thing in war thunder that can be considered pay to win are crew skills.
You can get bushes for free fairly easily which is nice atleast.

Really? How? I almost never use bushes because they’re ugly but it’d be nice to know how to get them for free.
If someone dying a lot means they fed the enemy teams plenty of respawn points, and this also leads to CAS spam, with enough sp they can afford a good loadout then they can nuke tanks from space, there isn’t anything better tankers can do to avoid death. Dying a lot is bad because it creates problems for your team down the road and also for yourself if you stay in the match longer.
Many matches could have ended early because their team has good tankers who can kill more than death, which prevents the enemy from spawning CAS with a good loadout due to lack of sp, when there is no enemy CAS or lacks of it, then you don’t need to use SPAA, then the match ends with your team steamrolling the enemy spawn point.
I also have ground vehicles that I don’t die to CAS often, which also happen to be the ones I’ve performed extremely badly in, they often didn’t survive their first encounter with the enemy tank, and then I have tanks that I perform extremely well in it, it has more kills than death, these tanks often have longer lifetime on average because most enemy tanks couldn’t kill it, which leads to getting bombed by CAS a lot more often, because that is the only way they could have killed me. So yeah, once you have a vehicle with 3-4 KDR then you will quickly find out how often you died to CAS.
They are available through the warbond shop sometimes.
It’s a toxic world, everything is toxic that’s why we have
War Thunder isn’t the problem, though it has many issues, being “toxic” is the last thing it is. It’s more like a creeping fungus.
warbond shop, there’s a Battle Trophy chest you can unlock and buy by doing 5x special task medals and costing 2,200 Warbonds. This month currently has no bushes in them, but rather helmets. Maybe the next one will carry bushes, sad part is you cant pick. But if I spend 2500 GE, i can pick the best bushes.
You can buy crew skills with money, I’ll use tanks with long reload time as an example, let’s use KV-2
lv.10 noob crews, loader = 43 seconds reload timer
lv.150 ace crews, loader = 33 seconds reload timer
Players who spend money going to have a KV-2 that reloads 10 seconds quicker than the one who didn’t spend any, that is pay to win one way or another bro
Ehhh ok, that’s literally spending to progress faster so not really a pay to win when I can just go to AB to get faster crew points, not so much in RB or SB. AB is the best place to get them.
But they also spend money to load less fast than I do. So that isn’t pay to win one way or another either. They shortened the time to develop their crews and close the gap to longer players. Now is that p2w?
i don’t understand your answer.
i never claimed they did.
never claimed it was.
Yes. My French Yak-3 and American Bf 109 F-4 is actually P2W because they can outturn almost everythings except Japanese props 🤡
It takes a while, probably 1000-1500 kills to get your vehicle crew ace, before you get there, the person who spent money on crew skills and ace already has all the advantages on reload, repair and crew vitality over you, until you get there.
Wahahaha… You serious?
The people that think this game is a wacky shooter are right.
There is no combined arms simulator. You are mouse clicking in tanks in every mode (even SB). There is no combined arms simulator.
There is a flight simulator that us exclusive to SB Air… Thats it. And it’s not a high fidelity sim. Arguably it is limited pretty much to single seat aircraft.
Tanks are comical and ridiculous, the people that see this as a wacky shooter have accepted this reality and they are right to do so.
But this is generally true:
And so does the person that doesn’t but plays more than you. It isn’t at all exclusive to paying. In fact, the traits will be least effective if paid for.
I rushed the German TT to 8.0 with 0 crew skills. One must learn to carefully invest on what skills the crew needs first. My choice of preference was repair speed/repair rank to max, then Gunner targeting to max, then weapon reloading which I’m still working on. If one is worried about reload speed, work on that first, then the rest.
You can skip all these, play 0 games, and go straight for lv.150 by spending money, I bet you will get to 8.0 a lot quicker and the sailing will be so much smoother than 0 crew skills, spend money to unlock all the parts while you are there, your vehicle winning rate for the first 10 matches is going to be drastically higher than the one who has to go through the HEATFS as stock vs composite armor.
Yea, I’ll reach to 8.0 a lot quicker, but I rather not as I’ll end up in the same place they are at eventually.
If they are willing to spend 4,000 GE (around $30) to make 1 crew slot lvl 150 to avoid going through the grind, then thats fine. All they did is progress faster, if they want to spend more GE on tank parts, that’s fine too. They grinded the money in real life which is called a job, they have disposable income and wanted to treat themselves with a nice self reward. In the end, even I don’t spend money to progress, I will still end up in the same place when I finish grinding.
There is a difference on P2W vs Pay to Progress.
It will make no difference in the end, and it will be so much smoother with a 4k display at 120Hz on a Geforce 4080. And for that, you can get 10 crews maxed and the premiums too.
I don’t care about crew skills being a thing. Grinding crews and acing tanks actually gives me something to grind for that isn’t cancerous daily tasks that are completely chance based. If someone wants to plop down hundreds of dollars to get their reload .5 seconds faster across their lineup sooner than f2P players then more power to them. Unlike bushes it’s not going to hinder my ability to get the first shot off and destroy them, and the difference between a mid-level expert crew, which isn’t that hard to attain f2p, and a max-level ace crew isn’t that massive anyway.
What do you mean by chance based? That the task is selected at random?
