VNAF A-1H (suggestion draft)

Correct specifically in 1965-67. Navy only. Wing commander only

Later more like in 1975, was widely used by then, well as wide as they could considering the us phased them out

Incorrect Navy didnt have Skyraiders in 75 and neither did the USAF, they relinquished them all in 1973 under the Paris Peace Accords.

VNAF didn’t have access to countermeasure dispensers like those found on the one in game.

You know this isn’t an American skyraider right?

And they did actually, a few had them when they were transferred over, they weren’t able to install any since they didn’t have them though

VNAF never had those dispensers is what I’m saying. If you can provide picture proof I’d love to be proven wrong but in the 300+ things I have on the VNAF I am yet to see evidence on one

They got them from ones that already had them installed by the us

So a total of maybe at most 5 aircraft were modified with one being hit by a SAM (1 of 5 killed by SAM’s the entire war) and the commander being Stoddard - the same guy who flew Paper Tiger II being KIA in 1966.

We don’t even have a ton of evidence for Navy ones with them. Only the 1 which again is the one at Pensacola.

Actually we do, it’s just not easy to find

If you’re talking about the ones on the wings those are illumination flares. E/G has illumination flare dispenser in the rear compartment (which is literally just a chute that goes through the floor) I have yet to see any evidence of countermeasures beyond the 1 airframe

I literally just showed you…

I was typing…I couldn’t see. Thanks captain obvious.

Countermeasures: yes provisions for 60 countermeasures as mentioned by the AH-1H/J maintenance instructions dated as August 1st 1972. Provisions for flares was included in the manual since it’s introduction in 1969. Quote from my a-1j suggestion

Lemme check that series of manuals myself hold on.

Edit: which page for the 1972 one? I don’t wanna have to sift through all 1109 pages for the sake of clarity

No idea I had a friend assist with it since they had access to it via a subscription

Lemme check then. Gonna take a bit to do so I can make sure for sure.

Sorry for insult I’m a bit stressed out over some stuff rn. My apologies. I’ve seen this image before.

I see that but I’m checking for anything else. This even in the navy manuals referred to the wing mounted ones.

Specifically the M139’s, Mk 6, and such

Edit: here you go 1 January 1961 revised 15 March 1962 AD-6/AD-7 Fight Handbook

Note that it says installed right hand side with the same language. The one in game is on the left side and is part of a new panel

Edit 2 : heres a screenshot from the one at Pensacola showing the same panel found in game
