Visual Improvements to Stalingrad!

Stalingrad, the site of dramatic events around the Stalingrad Tractor Factory during the liberation of the city on the Volga during the Second World War, is a veteran location that came to the game nearly 10 years ago. Ever since, it has become a classic battleground for Ground Battles in War Thunder! However, time moves on and we’ve strived to give this location a fresh look while preserving all of the familiar gameplay features that make Stalingrad so beloved. So bundle up, as we’re heading into the brutal Russian winter!

Before

After

To give Stalingrad an updated look, we focused on reworking every element of the map’s environment from scratch — from the remains of metal structures and lampposts, to the factory buildings and railway platforms.

Before

After

Buildings, roofs, train cars, coal piles and numerous ruins now have a completely new level of detail, and all major objects in the wintery Stalingrad now feature snowdrifts and icicles.

Before

After

Try not to slip over! The location has been updated with track markings in the mud on the well-worn roads, frozen puddles glimmer with ice here and there, and glimpses of last year’s grass peek out from under the snow.

Before

After

We’ve also updated the aircraft areas of this location! The winter forest now looks more authentic, the frozen river has a realistic ice crust with different ice colors for different depths, and snowdrifts have been added too.

Before

After

We’re aware of the importance of preserving recognizable routes and familiar cover, so we’ve aimed to preserve all game geometry as much as possible, meaning you’ll feel right at home in regards to combat when playing on the updated Stalingrad.

Before

After

That’s it for this one! Everyone will be able to try the newly updated Stalingrad location very soon. Until then, have a good one!

Allow more map feedback.
The current system is fundamentally flawed for collecting any accurate data on the players preferences for maps.

The map could’ve been more high tier-friendly if the developers expanded beyond the Volga River, is there any possibility for this change? Or perhaps a map section around these areas for more tank-tank long range engagements?

Was this map removed from rotation? I haven’t seen it in months

am i the only one who think’s this visual improvement is like the bare minimum?

Very nice but the map layaout is just rerrible just push A and after this you can spawn camp the enemy team with impunity. The entire map should be reworked.
Map rotation is another full disaster giving you the same maps over and over again just int he last 3 days maps like Holland, Abandoned town or Hurtgen appeared over 30 times meanhwile anothe rmaps rarely appears 1 or 2 times. Map rotation dont work propertly since years ago !!!
Another big issue is more than the half of maps are urban or mainly focused in urban fight even the recent changes destroy old open maos for create more stupid small urban maps.

Map rework, teaser confirmed

“visual”.
Yeah right.

Also better map rotation is needed having some maps not appear for weeks while featuring some maps constantly is annoying

Looks good, I have always liked playing this map.
And while I appreciate and applaud the time taken & the work done enhancing these maps,
I would like to put forth an idea . . .

How about applying this same time & effort to making additional variants to the same maps?
An added 2 - 3 new versions of cap points and spawns in different locations giving 3 - 4 maps to play.

I feel like this would add more fun/excitement and make all the ground maps less “static” and mundane in their game play features and options.

Key to this idea is one change, remove the markers for enemy spawn points from the mini map.
Spawn campers will still what they do, and winning a match by pushing your enemy back to their spawns will also still be possible. But . . the spawn’s location will need to be “located” via recon, scouting and spotting in a more realistic and traditional fashion . . . hence, more “realism” and added game features at the same time . … win - win.

Variety is a good thing . . . This could happen (It would also bolster the map rotation as well!)

Just a thought . . . something to consider

Are you all prepared to lose around 40 or 50 fps for a marginal graphics improvement?

Any chance we could get back to driving on the frozen Volga? Presently huge areas of this map are red. Manoevering on the frozen river is also historically accurate.

Is the air map going to have the improved look too?

Another laggy map with tons of fps drops nice

Are feedback any useful? Most “hated” maps by players are still in rotation
