The removal of democracy from games usually stirs bad blood.
Objectively speaking, now that I’m thinking about the ban feature in 32 and 64 map bans, it’s pretty bad.

“For the greater good.” isn’t great for me as someone that loves Pradesh and Red Desert.
However, removal of map bans would be a step back for players that like the feature.

If the change was augmented by unlimited likes and dislikes of maps… maybe they could get away with it without much backlash.

it happenned, but like 10 times in an effective way since 2013.
and several other light add-ons,… but nothing truly necessary

Me playing FnF helis has nothing to do with what I said about the MI28 and LMUR spam… again every video you can find, every replay I have proves you wrong. I am not arguing the point. you want to rebuttal the argument, then do your own research before stat checking and for reference I have the Israeli AH60 with SPIKES, statshark has my stats for that so im not sure why you cant see that.

But I guess you dont want acknowledge statshark stats for the MI-28, I guess the MI28 racking up 4 million ground kills isnt enough to prove the spam oh but it gets better, notice how its winrate/ground kills/kills per spawn/kills per death suddenly shot up MASSIVELY around July/August time? what got added then? DIRCM, funny how it keeps climbing since the introduction of LMURs later.

“like” and “dislikes” don’t really applies any changes in Map pool for MM,…

yet the problem behind the “Map Ban” feature, is that democracy intends to play only on 3 maps,… while most maps are denied, for or X or Y reason of balance/feelings,…

TankMap dev team should work on all maps, for balance, but this can’t be happenning without any data,…

One of the questions was concerning the size of maps in game
I was expecting him to say that they will implement bigger maps in game but instead said that the players want “smaller maps” which is not true at all especially at top tier where everything you face has a laser rangefinder
Lets take for example port novo and its multiple small versions
Small, linear layout and flanking is not practical no matter what you try
Another example is eastern Europe which is a classic map which was ruined with the rework they did last update
Somehow became smaller then it already was
The bigger version of this map provides no cover in some spawns allowing players to spawn camp across the map
One of the single cap versions literally allows both team to shoot each other from their own spawn
Almost no natural cover or effective natural cover
Advance of the rhine is a nice map and not to bad for top tier but still small

Fire arc is a medium sized map but is particularly hated because of the layout
Either you play the hill or you go for B and play town
Both extremities of the map are horrible to play because the area is wide open and everyone can see you

Both Ardennes need a rework and their spawns points need to be relocated

Theres couple other maps i could ramble about but i digress

For air i think its fine but i do think for top tier it would be nice to have more maps like rocky canyon or the big spain

Coming back “within the year.” I don’t think he meant 2025.

We’ve just had confirmation today that dislikes do change the MM.

The two most-disliked maps by the players in every game pool are excluded. BVVD actually confirms it in this video. And that was the case even before this month’s stealth changes in CM #9.

Maybe, now that we had it reconfirmed that dislikes actually do something, people should ask for more dislikes. Increasing the number of downvotes would increase agency but wouldn’t decrease the number of maps in the rotation, since it’s only the two maps with the most downvotes that are chucked each game.

wow, so actual maximum total map ban is 34 maps,…

Out of Maximum pool of 54 for GRB /or/ 92 for ARB
Which is not even true since there is Pools of maps per BR ranges

I still think we should give two bans a try, see if it works out.

That way I can ban Port Novo and this abomination (single cap Ardennes, variant 2)

2 bans/players means : 64+2 bans(like/dislikes) = maximum 66 bans - there is not even enough maps in GRB

Last week they had Port Novo on rotation, I wanted to punch my computer screen so bad. That map sucks and it’s an irredeemable mess. 1 cap Ardennes is also a steaming pile of you know what.

so you accept that actually a total of 34 maps can be banned.

but modes have a total maps of (without considering the MapPool by BR):
AAB : 94 maps
ARB : 92 maps
GAB : 52 maps
GRB : 54 maps
NAB : 46 maps
NRB : 46 maps

those amount of bans are extremely high,… no wonder why the game keeps spamming at us the same maps overs and over

thats assuming every player bans a different map each, while the math isnt wrong, thats not how the MM would work anyway. because the MM should simply be trying to match 1 player (you) by ignoring 2 map bans meaning those other players in reality should at least match the same ban to avoid the initial 1st map being a banned map. statically speaking it wouldnt be an issue as I can guarantee most players would ban the worst offenders so not every map would get singled out in ban

that would be true,… if everyone had joined the game at the same time,…

earliest maps being banned by most people, make new players to ban maps they have seen too much,… and ect. ect. so todays we have a likely high amount of games (at peak hours) to be spent on the 3 same maps, since those maps are the only one lefts to play,…

So they explained how this worked when they originally brought in the feature in 2019.

Dislikes are a vote. The two most disliked maps in the pool for the match are excluded from the randomizer (we knew it was a number, we just didn’t know the number before today).

Bans are different. If your map comes up and it’s banned by you, the match still goes ahead but YOU’RE kicked to the next matchmaker pool and everyone else goes into the first game (your spot being filled by late adds).

So increasing the number of bans would lead to a lot of people who have those bans getting longer queue times, but matches for people who don’t have bans (only dislikes) would continue.

(It has to work this way because already in some modes and BRs there’s less than 32 possible maps, so a total exclusion via 1 ban each would be mathematically possible. So after the map is picked, everyone with it banned is quietly kicked to the next pool instead.)

That’s assuming a worst case scenario where every player has banned a different map from each other.

In that case you shouldn’t put those players together, there’s thousands of players looking for games, just find a different combination that works. I don’t mind if it takes a bit longer.

Potentially yes but this would only become an issue if player population was low in a given BR bracket for that given set of maps at a given time where the map bans COULD cause issues.

I know at top tier, many would ban the stupid maps that are simply too small to fight in OR have red borders so small you might as well be in an MMA match :D

I think they could at the very least offer the ability to ban a 2nd map only at given times OR its only active for maybe 10-20 games OR it auto disables the 2nd ban pick if queue times become an issue. But statistically speaking it wouldnt in theory be an issue unless player count dropped enough.

The issue, is say I have Campania and Seversk 13 banned.
That still means I can get only small maps, because let’s be honest here, the playerbase obviously prefers low lead time to combat.

You will not get your banned maps, but you also will never get the banned maps of many players.

Updating the UI
No, it’s too much work and would make the game buggy. They prefer to make small changes over time.

ARM
Yes, maybe in the first half of next year. They’re not sure how good they’ll be, but the plan is that when you use one, you’ll be able to see roughly where the enemy SAM is.

Fixing Heavy Bombers
Yes, they agree that heavy bombers are way too fragile and unrealistic right now, so they are “tuning” them.

Artillery Sights for Indirect Fire
No, because its “extremely unrealistic” and cuz the minimum firing range for most artillery is bigger than the maps themselves.

More teamwork feature for air?
They are working on it.

Improving Naval Battles
They are working on it.

Smoke Artillery
No, because when they tested it in events, players mostly just used it to blind and grief their own teammates.

White Rock Fortress returning
It’s being reworked and they think it will be back in the game before the end of the year.

Remember when they said they won’t add top tier prems?
Rules are meant to be broken, also the new rule is prems will not be better than tt equivalents.

Can we see more Air EC?
No cuz nobody play it when it was an event. They are working on a new mode called “Aerial Warfare”

More WW2 stuff
No cuz we have enough. Maybe some interesting one.

Maps Getting Smaller
He says the maps aren’t actually shrinking. The super small versions are rare variant designed to be fast paced so you can get into fights asap.

"Copy pasta
They started copy pasta to multiple nations because players kept insisting on it. They promise they are still adding unique vehicles too.

WW Mode
Development is slow since they are focusing on the main game. They will test specific mechanics (like the Aerial Warfare mode) as events before launching the full mode.

More PVE mode
They are just here for fun and may return sometimes but aren’t permanent.

Strategic Bombers (like the B52)
They won’t be added as tt, but they might appear as rare collector’s vehicles or for special events. (akin to F117 basically)

Reduce the br spread to 0.7
No. Cuz muh queue time gonna increase. They will increase br cap instead.

Submarines
They are still working on it but might take a long time to be added cuz they afraid it might break naval for everyone.

New gamemode beside capture the point?
No cuz complex object is too much for the average wt player (aka ur stupid).

Improve Heli PVE?
Nah.

One death leavers
They not gonna punish them but they want to help by giving more backups and add a random vehicle spawn like how u spawn aircraft in naval.

Unbalance MM
Muh queue time gonna increase also git gud.

More map ban?
No but they are testing a system that look at map u played recently and avoid putting u on the same one again.

Skill issue, just hide or use smoke.

Maybe, this would affect handling some what so they don’t know if it would be a positive change or not.

BR changes and stuff
The process is: they started with server data, then a human review process (lol) and then heavily rely on community feedback post so keep posting your thought there i guess.

Big map for top tier or ground EC?
No cuz player prefer fast paced game. No mention about ground EC tho.

Basement guy release?
Bruh.
