Currently, to select a thermal sight color scheme, you have to change it in:
/>Options />Ground vehicle Battle Settings />Color scheme of the thermal sight
This applies to every vehicle in the game (with thermals) and cannot be tweaked for a single vehicle individually.
This is an alright process for doing just once, but for those who like to use historical sights (especially now with the new sight creator tool) it is annoying to change the color scheme after every respawn.
As an example, here is a U.S. 10.3 lineup with historical thermal color schemes:
As you can see, it is a huge inconvenience to change between ^ in the middle of a battle and, in my opinion, should be changed to save the selected color scheme to a chosen vehicle.
As a solution, I can see multiple easy-to-implement options:
Add a keybind similar to the current “Changing the color scheme of the thermal sight” (which currently only switches between white-hot and black-hot);
Keep the current placement in Ground vehicle Battle Settings, but apply the selection only to the vehicle currently being played (similar to how the old custom sight system worked)
Add an option to select a vehicle-specific color scheme in the new sight editor (and just append it to the current sight preset .blk file)
i do. Maybe i want only 1 color scheme for grb (competitivity), and historical one in sb (immersion). So i would want 2 different color scheme for the same vehicles depending on the gamemode.
I’d love to see this ingame, I love using green thermals for my m1a2s but on other vehicles with other custom sights like the stryker and challengers its not as pleasant on the eyes and id much rather be using white thermals. It’s quite annoying to do that every time you want to change vehicle, this would be great in the same menu as custom sights in the list of options as something like a “Thermal override: yes/no, Thermal color: green/red/white”
