USSR Naval Help, Tips

I have been suffering on naval after lot of years of not playing it and things have changed alot aswell and the rewards are just very bad nowdays I am currently using the Rank 4 Kirov Light cruiser which has a very good mobility very good gun but paper armor which it crews will died very fast and easy to ammorack and it has lack of antiair cabailities and the second ship I use is the Bravy. Please give me some tips to play this ships properly.

Id reccomend realistic, especially for that lineup. Ive been playing blaggordnyy and bravy for a few days, and because you are the highest br destroyer class in the game you get targeted instantly since everyone sees “destroyer” on your name tag in arcade while they are in cruisers.

Bravy is fun, but its not really worth losing the second turret in most cases. The missile can rack destoyers usually rear magazine, some light cruisers for instance i see a ton of detriots which can be detonated with their front magazine. You want to aim as low as possible without touching the water.

Naval is heavy on the game knowledge side, it pays a lot to have encyclopedic knowledge of ships and weakspots.

VT fuse + radar on your guns means you get free kills on planes, so check the skies when you get a triangle on your screen from the radar.

Here is the problem the Uptier, I cannot pentrate their armor using HE splashing damage dosen’t work either and then you get one shotted by 12x 360mm and just die very fast.

Uptiers aren’t fun in naval, but there should be at least some light cruisers running around you can pen and shoot at, in realistic if you don’t have a lot of ship knowledge it can be hard to tell what that might be.

In an uptier you should be looking for hard cover asap and playing around it, and take the closest spawn to it and only spawn in at when you are forced to, never spawn immediately.

If I get into an uptier in the bravy etc. I just make a dash for the coastal area to play around cover and pray I make it there without being targeted, and if its a bot you should be able to dodge easily enough, but if its a cracked player looking at your movements it can def be hard since they are actually using intelligent lead and not just relying on the arcade aim or fire solution chevron to do all the work.

Yes their is some light crusiers however they also died together with me when we spawned.

If its a map where you spawn 10km from each other you should be able to dodge just doing S movements at full speed on your way to cover, if its an uptier and its a map where you spawn 5km from each other ya idk maybe you are just cooked if you get targeted.

Spawn as late as you can, immediately move for cover, and if you see shells coming anywhere near you try and dodge, not much else you can do.

Naval is pretty hard to learn tbh, I was absolute dogwater for a long time, and still not that great, so don’t feel bad if you are just starting and getting your ass kicked.

or Should I removed the Kirov from the preset and change to something else lower BR so i can peacefully upgrade by Bravy while seeing fewer battleships that are impossible to damage. Since the Kirov have been full upgraded long ago. The kirov use to only face downtiers those destoryers… and why now it face bunch of Immortal japanese battleship?

Ya coastal is the only thing of lower BR I would bring for lineups in bluewater, a .3 BR difference is like 1.0 in air/ground its rough. Run the bravy with the sploinky or whatever its called lol, its just the TT version of the blagdorodnyy.

Is Costal fun, and is the grinding painful? because i see a 4.3 costing more then a 10.0 in ground.

Its terrible, just squad research the skr7 maybe buy a premium fast boat for capping, g5 reserve boat in coastal is fine for capping too, just not as good at defending itself if you run into another coastal ship.

I would just grind the 5.3 lineup till you get the chapayev, the other 2 ships like it are getting foldered with it and you can make that your next lineup at 6.0, those ships are pretty good from what I hear, and a lot of monsters at 7.0 are getting moved up to 7.3 so you’ll be out of range of them.


Ok so this is my first battle of costal it look very very bad the rewards. I wanna grind costal because when i play low tier costal basically destory everyone… I am a F2P player. it was quite fun though. And ye I heard USSR have the best Costal fleet in War thunder aswell.

If you have fun in coastal play it, but if you just want the stuff thats good for blue water matches usually in rank 4/5 its gonna take an eternity to get there and it will be an awful expierence even with double premium.

Im not sure because i only have the russian frigate, but if higher tier naval matches have frigate spawns near the coast and dont force you out in the open in regular spawns the skr7 is probably one of the best options in the game for that and its a sqaudron vic. So you can just go for that and call it good enough if you are only interested in blue water. And the g5 you get for free is good enough to cap, not really defending itsepf against any coastal vics if present, but capping and decapping is important.

All you need for a decent naval lineup is 2 blue water 1 coastal and 1 fast bomber for russia tu2 is your best bet. PE8 can be fun too but you arent dodging anything so you need to pick off lone targets out in africa by themselves, tu2 you can actually have a decent shot at getting close enough against multiple targets, if you can identify ww1 battleships from the air these are the easiest targets usually.

Hydroplanes are another option for capping too.

Ok this is my second battle in costal literally fighting new players but I am very new to costal as well…Is it good and if i kept this up would it grind fast?

I am currently using the MPK-163 and is there a way to use both the 85mm gun and the 37mm Auto Cannon at the same time as the AI aiming is worse then the new players.

There is a control that lets you use both main and secondary guns with 1 click - but often AA autocannon apparently do not count as secondary.

Not in the game ATM so can’t give you a screenshot - but you might be able to find it easily enough now you know it exists - it is in “Controls”

It not an AA it a Auxiliary Cannon the AA are 3x Double Cannon 50cals. Like I want it like bluewater fleet which you can use your Main cannon and the Auxiliary cannon together.

Like I said - sometimes the Aux cannon switch works, sometimes it doesn’t - no use telling me what you think it should be.
