I’m researching SEP 2 with HSTVL and M1A1 HC myself cause I need to spade them.
I guess we’ll find out Necrons’ reason shortly.
My M1A1 is fully researched with Ace crew qualification, and I don’t care about the turret cheek armour.
Only needed 10K for the SEP.
So would it be fair to say you are doing so because the M1A2 is not in your eyes a significant enough upgrade over the M1A1 to be worth using?
Which is one of the bigger complaints overall about the SEPv2?

If his M1A2 isn’t fully upgraded he might not have KE rounds, the mobility boost from being spaded and Ace crew is nothing to scoff at.
SEPv2 being tertiary isn’t exclusive to U.S, the Chally 2 TES (and the premium OES (why)) have always been a meme and worse off over the base model and 2F, and some similar arguement can be made for the Leo 2PSO. At the very least, there’s a good chance the SEPv2 TUSK kit can be made into a research module and possible to remove if you want.
Adding SEPv2 with Trophy would have been my recommendation but oh well

But you said you don’t find the upgraded turret cheeks worth it, which is about the only advantage (aside from M829A2 and CITV) that the M1A2 has over the baseline M1A1.

No, I said I don’t care about the cheek armour.
I don’t rely on my armour in any top-tier tank, regardless of what upgrades it might have.
For me, the M1A1 plays like a 11.7 tank and I’d take it over a Challenger 2, T-80U, T-90M, Leopard 2A6, etc.

Iirc the M1A2 is rank VIII so it will always have a dart stock.
Personally a SEPv3 would have my preference over yet another overweight base M1A2 copy, but I guess a SEPv2 eith trophy would at least be something.
A SEPv4 prototype exist you know? Sure the program got cancelled as far as we know, but the TKX(P), Challenger 2 BN, WZ1001 and Leopard 2 PSO all show that Gaijin has no problem with adding either early prototypes or prototypes that lead to nothing further to top tier.

If USA players feel so strongly that the USA is not worth playing then simply don’t play it.
Abandon it for other nations in protest.
They already are. US is one of the least played of the major nations in top tier, only Chinese one death leavers stay in it.
Edit: I’m playing Japan and France instead, and dealing with the consequences of people who can’t do anything but hit ‘air’ without looking at a frigging map.

Victory by playing a cleaver game and demonstrating a level of intelligence those around them are not.I can watch replays too you know.
I have 6 ground trees at top tier. It’s just not worth playing us top tier because you have to fight 2A7s/122s and at the same time you barely have any teammates good enough to rely on.
I have barely played us top tier the last few weeks, I just hop between different trees and different BRs depending on what I feel like.

I’m in the same boat as Renzo. I’ve watched clever players sit and watch caps be taken and not move for three or four minutes, to get one kill.
Also watched them faceplant caps and not even shoot.
And I’ve watched them drive so that they’re within ramming distance of an enemy and not shoot.
I’m not impressed by this sort of clever gameplay.

No wonder you consider M1A1 to be a Leopard 2A7V counter… if you don’t take into consideration one of the main parameters that define a tank’s capabilities.
A tank’s capabilities are defined by three main factors:
-Mobility
-Firepower
-Survivability
If you suddenly come in and say that survivability is irrelevant because “you just don’t get hit lol”, it’s no wonder you consider M1A1 to be a Leopard 2A7V counterpart- hell, going by that logic, even ARIETE should be a 1:1 counterpart to the Strv 122s as well (who cares about armor, just don’t get hit, right?).
Maybe you are an ultra-professional player who is virtually an invisible ghost to the enemy, like the Youtuber you reference; but not everyone is or plays like that; and when that’s the case, protection and survivability are what makes the diference between two tanks that are similar in every other way.

I never said that.
In fact, I’ve said on numerous occasions that the Strv 122 and Leopard 2 A7V should move up significantly. I’ve also said they are the flavour of the month and dominate everything else.

The 122s have been flavour of the month for 4 years, then…? Now that’s a long month.
And while you may not have said that directly, you have insinuated that “there is no problem with the Abrams tanks having zero armor compared to the uparmored Leopards” because “who cares about armor if you just play not to get hit”, hence why you “find base M1A1 to do perfectly fine against these”.
