So being generous, Aim-9X Blk1 will have maybe 15-20km of effective range. Less if the TVC is buggy.
Blk 2 with lofting, under conditions where that is useful, you might get more, but wont be kinematically very strong.

So, Subsonic, cooperative targets.
An actual fighter though, something moving, something non-cooperative. Probably more like 20-25km at most. Most of the time, you probably wont actually want to fire one much past 15km.
Against something under those same conditions, then ASRAAM is probably 60km+. But youd probably want to be firing around 30km. (ASRAAM is stated to have 6x the effective range of an Aim-9M in front aspect and 3x in rear aspect). So if Aim-9M is hitting 30km in front aspect according to the US, then ASRAAM is hitting 180km, im thinking the US figures you have Aim-9M are wrong)
And in a short range dogfight, IRIS-T will beat Aim-9X everytime. Aim-9X is a jack of all trades, master of none. Though will be weaker than Python-5 which is much the same.
Aim-9X overall isnt going to be that good, just an FYI for US mains that think it will make them the meta. The meta is probably going to be the Rafale with MICA IR and Typhoons with ASRAAM (even more so if they get both ASRAAM and IRIS-T)
Other way around because Python 5 has no tvc and no datalink with similar range as AIM-9X
Aim-9X is reported to have a max pull of around 50G. Python-5 is around 70G iirc. (does depend on dual-plane though)
Aim-9X’s top speed is around Mach 2-2.5. Python 5 is around Mach 4
Aim-9X has a 90° gimball, Python 5 is 100°. So if LOBL is a hard requirement, then that also gives a point to the Python-5 in HOBS.
and no TVC in war thunder is probably actually a buff.
So whilst max range is comprable, I think overall the P5 should be stronger
I believe the AIM-9X can be utilized at greater numbers than anyone else on the Hornets. But it’s a Hornet at the end of the day.

Hornet is pretty alright, not the best, but does the job. May actually prove threatening with 9x addition.
50G at the moment because its single plane. Im hoping we get some overall improvements to the code by then to allow for dual plane
There isn’t a report for it to get 70G dual plane either, so can’t rely on that.

Initially yes, but then the US did their usual brute force sales pitch and you switched to Aim-9X/intergration issues with the F-18E/F
The main HOBS report for ASRAAM comes from an RAAF F18
You were also going to use Blue Vixen (from the SHar) because it performed better, but the intergration cost wasnt worth it in the end

F15CGE should be able to use 8 because MRML is compatable with 9x
also when added F15EX could get 12
