Uptier with tiger II

So, the Tiger 2 is a Tank from the 2nd world war. Getting uptier with that tank is way to unfair because your round cannot pen anything at all.

At 7.7 the only tank you can’t pen easily is the Conq or M103, but they still have weak points in their LFP. Everything else you can pen, most by point and click anywhere on the tank. The Tiger 2 is one of the best upteir heavies in the game.

KV-1 & KV-85: ?

KV1 is bad in an upteir. That gun isn’t very good vs 4.0s and vs 4.7s you need some very good RNG rolls to hit weak points thin enough. Your armor advantage is gone by 4.3 and most 4.7s can point and click large portions of your tank.

KV-85 is very good, but hits one of the worst BR ranges in the game. 5.7 germany is completely absurd and very popular, meaning you get upteired constantly vs 200 pen panthers. The 85mm isn’t even all that good vs Tigers since its flat pen is so bad. You have to hit cupola or flat UFP where they can hit anywhere on your tank.

Compare to the tiger 2 being able to point and click Centurions, BMPs, AMX 30s, and penning large portions of even T54s. You point and click 95% of 7.7.

Are you drunk??? How is being able to being penetrated by even the most light tank and being unable to pen even most mediums, while being the slowest and biggest target on the map the “best up tier heavy”?

Because ALL Heavy tanks in this game lose their armor effectiveness in upteirs. How do you not understand this? However, not all heavies have both a great gun and effective armor, which is what you get with the tiger 2. Tiger 2s are actually rather quick for WW2 era heavies. Speed is a vastly overrated stat in a game where 60-120s of gameplay takes you most of the way across the map in all but the slowest of tanks.

The best joke this week :)

Trust me, its a lot worse when you are uptiered a full BR and find yourself against TIger 2s and there is nothing you can do. My record was 15 non-pens on a tiger 2.

T29/T34/T30s are significantly slower, especially neutral steering. KV1s, KV2s, churchills, are slower and less maneuverable, and the chieftan is one of the slowest heavies in the game. And the Tiger 2 also has the 105 variant with a 900 hp engine. The tiger 2 should be slower than what we have in game given its power to weight ratio and track width, but it isn’t.

I was just about to believe it if I haven’t tried these.

Tiger 2 has an overall better turret with better APCBC shell (faster reload, higher velocity, more explosive, better penetration) than T54 variants at 7.7, and they don’t really struggle with it so you having problems with Tiger 2 is definitely a skill issue

Which is a shame because those automatic cross-drive transmissions in the US heavies (and all/almost all post-war designs) were explicitly designed around maneuverability and minimizing power losses to gearing by utilizing a hydraulic boost to divert power between tracks, especially when turning.

I just never play Tiger II. I only spaded them. Problem solved.

Most heavy tanks suffer in uptiers, cause they only have their armor, which gets worthless in a uptier. There are only a few viable ones, like the KV-1 or some others which are less prone to get uptier matches. You need to test that, some BRs like 4.0 just rarely get +1 or +0.7 matches. Other BRs like 5.7 or 6.7 are very likely to get full uptiers. Just avoid these BRs.

Play what suits you most and ignore the rest. Like the 6.7 Tiger II is a lost cause, don’t bother to get a headache while playing these bricks. Since the dawn of Ground Forces, the 6.7 BR range always has been a bad spot, which far too often gets uptiered.

Just so you know the Tiger 2 only really struggles against HEATFS, HEAT, HESH, HE (Sometimes) and of course the kinetic rounds so really it’s a great tank when it comes to the hull armor.

Just try your best to take as many shots on the side of your turret (angle the turret) and if you see anything like a 90mm+ (above your BR) try not to get shot in your transmission by any of the APHE shells other than that you can destroy and survive the most iconic Heavies, Mediums, Lights, SPAAs, Tank Destroyers even MBT’s if you’re lucky enough.

So don’t think the Tiger 2 is horrible in uptiers. It’s just sadly skill issues but eventually you will learn. Best of luck to you. :/

While T54 is obviously a better tank with higher mobility, better armor and lower profile, the point was that Tiger 2 somehow didn’t have enough firepower to damage tanks it might face in uptiers. A T3485 has enough penetration to do just fine above 7.0. Tiger 2 really does not have any problem as long as it does not go against super heavies

Im sorry but if you can’t penetrate anything with a Tiger 2 in a full uptier at 6.7, thats entirely a you problem and nothing else. There are plenty of vehicles as high as 7.7 with similar or worse penetration than the Tiger 2s, with similar post pen effects, and quite frankly often much worse reload speeds. T32s, IS-3, IS-4M, Ho-Ri to name a couple.

These vehicles do just fine.

The tiger 2 has excellent penetration for its BR, and its APCBC shell has brilliant post pen damage.

If you actually want to complain, how about looking at stuff like the T26E5 which is a heavy tank stuck with 175mm of penetration and is also at 6.7, instead of the 237mm the Tiger 2 gets.

Basically all heavy tanks at that br suffer from the same issue. Gaijin did mention it as a issue in the roadmap so maybe we’ll see some change
