The Devs genuinely need to add a system to stop upteirs. Some of the time there alright but most of the time it’s a shit show and you can’t do fuck all about it. Like what is my Tiger 2 supposed to do against a fucking IS6. I can’t pen it any where and you just get one tapped. Same with Britain 7.7 you always get upteird to 8.7 or 9.0 cause the game loves that for some reason. At its BR the Conqueror can actually get kills and it’s enjoyable to play but as soon as you get moved up to all these fairly modern vehicles you can’t pen for shit and just get one tapped by a ATGM from a helicopter or APFSD rounds.
No…they don’t…game with same tier battles will become way boring and some vehicles will become too omnipresent…
Not saying present system is perfect, but zero uptiers is worse…
Using Tiger 2 as argument is debatable at best…as it is a very tough opponent when top tier…and capabel of handling most higher BR targets.
I use KT a lot and rarely have issues…i ASSUME it would be tough vs IS6, but i don’t actually recall ever having to handle that problem…so i am either lucky or it is a rare occurrence. KT can usually kill +1BR targets…there are (lots of) vehicles with much worse odds…
So you’re ok with waiting 45 mins to an hour for a match just to not get an “uptier”?
Because if you are getting several in a row, that generally means that there are many more players slightly above your BR in the queue waiting to play than there are players with lower BRs. The MM’er can only work with what the players have queued up.
The MM’er does not give out uptiers or downtiers to anyone in particular. It doesn’t keep track of any of that. In fact, I would wager it does not even distinguish any difference between the two.
So many players take it all “personal”, think the MM’er is doing something malicious to them and that isn’t the case. Not in the slightest.
It’s a program, it looks at numbers, in this case, the BR of each player’s line up that is in queue and makes matches from that . . . nothing else.
I think the vast majority of the time a player gets uptier’d a few times and makes no adjustments to their lineup, nation or mode they really should expect to see more of it in the following games. Because unless those waiting make big changes, the pool of available players is not likely to change a lot.
Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is by some, the definition of insanity. Like hammering a square peg in a round hole.
It can be done, but at what cost? . . . . go with the flow
Besides an “uptier” is actually a scoring opportunity. It pays more to kill stuff with a higher BR than yours.
As for the poor OP’s angst . . I don’t wanna tell them that the higher you go, the harder all that becomes because of modern, automated weaponry . …
But . . . it is what it is.
I’d be cool to have a option to limit uptiers to like a 2:1 ratio. Even if wait times are longer it’d still be nice.
And hell, back when nations were separate, people used to wait 10+ minutes to get a match with their squad’s, so it’s not like wt players arn’t used to it.
You too have no idea, and that’s because no one can predict how many of any BR, mode or vehicle type will be in queue waiting to play.
But the simple fact that this guy wants to add another parameter “no more than two “uptiers” in a row” would extend wait times . . I just ballparked a number that is possible to make a point.
The thing is, it will not ever happen for one reason alone. Gaijin will never do anything that might extend queue/wait times . . . never has and I strongly doubt they ever will.
And it’s not for a bad reason(as many might claim) it’s simply because people lack patience . . they do not want to wait. Gamers are prolly even less patient and I think an argument that WT players have even less patience could be made . . lol
But, no real way to prove or disprove any of that.
Just because you are willing to wait longer, doesn’t mean any other players feel the same way, this is key.
We can’t assume, either way, that based off of our own wants, wishes, desires or needs that other players feel the same way.
A player gets tired of waiting and leaves the game, to go do something else or what have you, and that takes a player out of the queue pool . . . making longer waits for those remaining. . . then 2 more leave . . etc etc . . . snowball effect.
This is why Gaijin wants short queue/wait times . . . and it makes sense.
Not worth the risk.
Granted we have more players online at any given time now than in the past.
But still, this has always been a serious consideration for Gaijin and I for one, appreciate that.
I’d also wager this is a big factor in the +/- 1.0 BR spread for games . .
to ensure shorter wait times
just my thoughts from what I have experienced and know about the game
p.s. I asked the guy if he was WILLING to wait that long, I never said anyone would HAVE to wait that long . . . big difference
And no need to go all Calamity Jane on me, especially if you didn’t bother to read all that was written . . . context man
Not engage? The IS-6 is peak Russian bias, in that it has the most hellish hit model to fight in anything. Shoot one from the side? Your shell is getting eaten! Shoot one’s barrel? Orange!
I think decompression needs to happen, or Gaijin needs to make a system that makes it a lot less common to have consistent uptiers each match.
At least the game is somewhat consistent though; if you’re playing 6.7 and keep getting uptiered to 7.3/7.7, if you swap to a tank of that BR you’re going to be getting mostly downtiers
IS-6 is horrible these days, bad sight zoom and dogwater suspension that cause your gun to take hours to settle down. It’s worse for IS-6 to get uptiered than Tiger 2 to face 7.7s.
tbh, uptier doesn’t really matter that much. As long as you aim for weakspot you are good, and if you are in something that really struggles in the pen department like a sherman, their is still the option of flanking around. The best exemple of this is the Char 25 t siting at 8.0 with a pershing gun and still overperforming by gaijin standart. The reason why is that people are just so oblivious to their enviromnent that having a sinde shot is prety easy no matter which tank you are playing. As Pollarfush said once :" Don’t you know the flanking Jagdtiger ?"
