Upgrading from an NVIDA 1660 I 6gb to a AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT Hellhound 20gb

I have the latest version of DDU…
From your experience what issues will I hit… Does DDU do a good job of cleaning up NVIDA ?

Reason I am buying the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT Hellhound is because it will work best in Adobe Premier … But with 20gb mem, it should be great in WT too, am I correct?

-Thanks again…

I recently upgraded from 1660 Super to 16gb RX 7800XT - difference is phenomenal.

Use DDU as you stated and ALSO make sure your BIOS is updated.

Make sure your CPU overclock isnt interfering with the GPU like I had. (if you have OC).

Make sure you have a decent PSU and do not daisy chain the power cables to the card.

Enjoy :)

p.s You can run everything at max/movie on DX12 - even ray tracing before they removed it from game.

Yes, DDU does a good job of cleaning up drivers from all 3 brands. Also remember to uninstall the GeForce experience/App as well.

As far as the 7900xt goes, yes, 20GB will be more than enough for WT.

Some things to look out for on the 7000 series Radeon cards.

There’s a bug with Windows Auto HDR especially with multiple monitors, which causes the vram to not clock down when idle, which can increase idle power draw. Took me a bit of fidgeting to figure out what was causing it with my 7900gre.

The driver overhead on AMD GPU driver’s is lower than for Nvidia. Which can be a double edged sword. It can allow better performance on lower end CPUs, but, it can make them prone to stutter if there is a CPU bottleneck being caused by thermal throttling from an overclock, or an unstable RAM OC.
