Updated War Thunder forum

Just a problem now, in 15 days everyone will be able to edit. The requirements are quite low.

Sad stuff folks, I hope someone archives the old forums before they pull the plug in 2 years. I might have enough disk space for it…

This new forum is a disaster :-(

Anyone with a NAS or other storage server ought to do so. Tape-based cold storage would be ideal, as that is widely considered the best for long-term archives of computer data. Anyone got an IBM LTO library?

auto mod flags cursed words regardless, just dont use it and diss gaijin without having to use it

Change needs to be for a reason, to make things better.
What does this improve?
Near a decade of posts vanished, locked away in a archive to be deleted in 2 years?
All the old links, the old bookmarks, broken?
A unfriendly UI?

And to make matters worse I literally can’t use it.
I am not colorblind in the normal sense in that I can see all the colors, but similar shades blend together.
All this?

It blends together.
You have made a forum I CAN’T SEE.

This infinite scrolling posts, the lack of proper division, the old posts locked away, my links broken, this is hideous, awful and quite literally unusable for me.

Who asked for this?
Seriously…

Also if you are not done migrating, maybe just close the parts of the old forum you want to migrate later, so they do not inflate anymore and keep the rest open for the people.
No warning beforehand, nothing.

The wayback machine exists for that purpose:

This is horrible first you bring an update out that is absolutely rubbish then you destroy the forums what is going on ? Are you trying to get us to go play world of tanks?

why is it some kind of chat feed with nested replies that also appear normally? this is a very confusing format for any sort of rational discussion between a large amount of people.

Wayback machine is not a comprehensive mirror, it might archive a handful of threads and perhaps the first few pages of a given category, that’s it.

This new forum design/layout is absolutely awful what was the reason for the change. Its even worse when you use in on mobile like truly dreadful I want to know what they were thinking.

You can manually safe all you want on wayback machine:
For example I just saved page 86 of a thread: https://web.archive.org/web/20230619123159/https://old-forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/375012-airfield-aaa-discussion-thread/page/82/

WhY? Why? Why?!?!?!?!??!

There is so much wrong here, all I can think of is
Will old posts and discussions be migrated to the new version or are all those threads suddenly stopped and gone in 2 years?
I mean, the least which could be done is to migrate those before going live AND tell people of the coming changes before hand

This is so disappointing

That is going to be a massive mistake if they intend to keep this new trash.

Needs an edit option and the freedom to choose profile pics.

Another BS updates on WT fourm.

I would like to come back here when the new Forum implements a switch that allows legacy layouts like the TSS website and Gaijin Market.

There is an edit option, but you need to earn “Trust” to use it rn, and if you get more trust you can edit other peoples posts.
