I get that, but they are still way too good at intercepting munitions. Needing 3 AGM 65 Bs if you’re firing from more than 5km away is, simply put, stupid. Make them act like a normal player or realistic aa, with chances of missing, blindspots and so on.
Honestly? If you are at that range you might as well toss bombs
Rockets work best, especially with CCIP
It’s nothing imo, sure you burn 2-3 Mavs for a convoy but you have a free farm after that
yea hopefully, because the tree density on previous editions made convoys hard to seen too, and would be harder to do with helis as well which you need visible line of sight whether laser or just auto tracker flir guiding beam ranging missiles
Needing 3 Mavs doesn’t seem that bad to me either to be honest
exactly and F-4EJ does best at that with the amount of rockets it could carry too
and this too, if you want to retain anti munition at least make it make sense, why tf it needs to have high probability to be able to intercept one every single time, like make it one in 10 or one in 50 already plausible. Just because it is “technically possible” doesn’t mean it is possible every single time
i just wanna play SU39 as a ground attacker its so boring playing it as a fighter 24/7 but yall never have 11.3 apparently
Pretty sure 11.3 was available in July
yeah thats gonna be while dont know why they dont just run it in brackets and run it all at once
Because they want to focus on testing certain brackets
where are the ZSU-57 and M42 located on the map?
Issue is the AI can intercept munitions with almost perfect accuracy, a player attempting the same thing cannot do that on such a consistent way as the AI can, sure you can get lucky and hit a bomb or a missile that you see coming from about 1km away, but the AI is doing this every single time from 3km away and does it almost perfectly.
Maybe a way to fix this is to introduce some bullet spread or some inaccuracies in their aiming? The AI could then still intercept munitions but not at the same level as it can currently. These AI SPAAG are more accurate with the guns then stuff like the 2S6 and Pantsir was in the higher BR tests.
To he honest reducing their accuracy should be done for aircraft too, this issue goes back years in Sim where the AI SPAAG simply have a 3km exclusion zone where if you dare stray into you are shot down almost instantly no matter how fast you are going and often no matter how hard you try and get out of the way of the rounds fired at you.
they did put two shilkas on every convoy now. So its a bit harder now.
That means 6 AGMs per convoy just to be able to actually attack it. That’s a minimum of one rtb for 99% of aircraft.
Yep. The problem is that it’s just programmed. If distance < 3 then shoot. While in fact, a player might have their turret facing in the wrong direction, attemping to drive up a hill and struggling, being in the middle of a reload, etc. etc. etc. This goes for all the AA. They don´t utilize ‘real’ radar locks, ‘real’ heatseekers, etc. All AA in nuclear thunder is just programmed server-side with very very simple rules… It makes playing against AA inherently unfun.
*AA should not shoot down muninitions. This rarely happens in real life, and only high-end 1990’s AA could do that.
Let alone against HARMS. AA operators would turn their radars off.
Was the strategy of the AA operators in Bosnia or Iraq ‘ahhh some harms incoming, no sweat, just shoot them down no problms’. Uhmmm, no, AA operators would turn their radar off if they knew there was HARMS in the area or it would be an absolute death sentence.
There is NO independently confirmed case of a vietnam-era gun battery being credited with a Walleye, Bullpup, laser-guided bomb, Shrike, or similar weapon kill. (and I did google for it). Then WHY is it in this game happening 100% of the time if this game is all so about ‘realism’ ?!??
There is not even a confirmed case of the Iraqi’s in the 1990’s shooting down a single guided bomb or HARM missile. Baghdad had the densest air defense network in the world, and that was in the 1990’s! They had a gigantic AA networks and had over 5000 AAA pieces. Over 2700 guided bombs were used against Baghdad and not a single confirmed case of one bomb shot down. HARM was an incredible deterrent and immediately forced radar operator to turn their radar off.
Shooting down guided bombs or HARM missiles is just something that doesn’t happen in real life. It should be completely removed from the game. Just like missile-counter-missile btw.
Thank you for putting the gamemode once again !!
BUT WHEN WILL YOU REMOVE THE JOIN IN PROGRESS ??
it is possible to spot a long since burnt out ARM with just eyes?
Without a change to the accuracy of AI SPAAG I can’t imagine what helicopters are going to end up like when we see them made available for the tests, anything without CCIP or guided weapons will be unplayable due to how close you would need to get to the targets the omniscient AA would smite you down instantly.
Helicopters with laser guided munitions would end up with all being intercepted since you can only fire a few at the time which travel slow enough to be easily shot down.
Only ones that stand a chance of being usable are ones with access to a number of fire and forget missiles.
We don’t know what their introduction will bring to the mode but they would 100% need the AA to be toned down along with helicopter specific objectives to carry out.
Good ol eyeball MK.1s never fail
Also the J-7D…
