Update 2.57.1.70 (Battle Rating changes implemented)

Exactly.
CAP and SPAA is only useful when enemies spawn planes.
If nobody spawns planes, you can’t really help your team to fulfill the objectives.
I feel like the CAS crowd often forgets that each player that isn’t in a proper tank or armoured car is a player that can’t properly compete on the ground.

Swifts, Yak-28B, Vautours, Buc S1 etc etc are all fast aircraft with ground attack ability at 8.0 ish. Or slightly higher, stuff like the Scimitar, F-100, Hunters, etc around 8.7/9.0

let alone aircraft like the B-57 and Canberras which can operate at higher altitudes and relatively high speeds, and drop some very dangerous payloads. Like the canberras 2x Cookies.

I would not want to take any of those on in a Bosvark.

But what incentive is there to ever actually spawn in CAP, which costs 500-700 SP and just hope there is something to shoot down. Rather spend that SP cost on a CAS aircraft instead.

AFK?

8.7/9.0 will be covered by early radar SPAA. Late non-radar gun SPAA won’t be facing those planes.

They’re slow bombers, which brings us back to the CAP point.

Shooting down CAS before it enters SPAA range.

I don’t usually have to wait more than a minute for planes to spawn when idling in A6M2 or Spitfire Mk.IX.

It is an issue at 7.3+ because most CAS planes are too weak and too expensive to consider spawning. Lowering CAP SP cost would make the issue even worse and give you even fewer CAS targets to kill.

Nah man, those low BR SPAAs totally are good counters against late props and low BR jets, especially the Ystervark and Bosvark with their massive blindspots. That blindspot totally won’t be a problem when dealing with fast planes at all…
Most low BR SPAAs are extremely flawed in one or more aspects and all of them require way more skill to use than most other vehicles.

Except, they will be.

Swift, Yak-28B, Vautours and Buc S1 are all 8.0-8.3.

So in a 7.3 to 8.3 match, with your proposed changes, what actually deals with these aircraft?

Actually, not that slow, and again, what stops a Canberra from getting 2x 4000lb bombs off before someone spawns in a CAP aircraft, locates the Canberra and attempts to catch up?

Okay?

And what if no CAS spawns?

You spend 500+ SP on a vehicle that might do absolutely nothing the rest of the match.

Ive had multiple recent matches where Ive spawned in something more CAP focused and done nothing for the rest of the match.

Don’t forget about the helis that are almost impossible to hit with anything, except for 155mm HE-VT shells
Well, unless those heli pilots are basically AFK and hover while guiding their ATGMs lol
A smart heli pilot in a Alouette, Scout or Huey will just start slightly maneuvering as soon as they see tracers and the SPAA will only be able to spray-n-pray

8.3 SPAA, or 7.3-8.3 CAP.

CAS dropping bombs isn’t an issue, that’s kinda the point of CAS. If you die to CAS, you’re free to spawn CAP and single-handedly shut down the skies for the entire rest of the game.

I fail to see how lowering the price of CAP is supposed to fix this. If anything, you’d want CAP more expensive, and CAS less expensive so that there’s more incentive to spawn CAS, and thus more CAS to shoot down.

Helis are even more hopeless outmatched by planes. It’s fine for helis to be strong against SPAA.

Yeah. I have less of an issue with those overall, but wouldnt want to try and deal with them without radar guided SPAAGs.

Though did have a match in GSB where 4 of those just wiped out our entire team and there was nothing we could do about it

Most players seem to lack the patience to use early helis, but the ones that do use them can be absolute monsters

What 8.3 SPAA? You are proposing they get moved up ot a higher BR

CAP costs 7-10x more than the SPAA.

If you have 500-700 SP available to spawn in said CAP.

Because SP cost should = the SL/RP reward and the match impact.

700 SP cost to sit AFK doesnt sound worth it to me

Yeah, ive never gotten into playing helis, at any BR. Probably should at some point though

The ZSU-23 and M163 will be in the 8.3 area.

If other planes have enough SP for CAS, you should have enough SP for CAP.

100sp to sit afk wouldn’t be worth it either. The issue isn’t that CAP is too expensive, it’s that CAS sometimes isn’t worth spawning.

Okay, and what about the other 8 nations?

That is the dumbest thing ive ever read as an excuse for CAP to be so expensive.

What next? MBTs to cost 700 because if one person can spawn a 700 SP MBT, so can everyone else?

At 100 SP, (lower than I would suggest of around 300), you could at least justify it in the same way I’ll prememptively spawn in a SPAA.

speaking of expensive, at top tier why is it more expensive to take AAMs than it is to take dumb bombs (or it may be the same, which still is a bit stupid)

Yeah, that is in-part my issue with the current cost of CAP.

AAMs should have no cost at all, but I fail to see why something like a Sea Harrier FA2 with not even a gunpod taken (extreme example, but makes a point) should cost 10x that of an SPAA at the same BR and is probably less effective than some at dealing with CAS (like the Pantsir S1)

America gets M163
Russia gets ZSU-23
Italy gets ZSU-23
China gets PGZ-88
Japan gets M163
Sweden gets Veak 40
Israel gets M163 and ZSU-23

Britain gets the Falcon, which I think is comparable to current 7.3s in SPAA ability though I haven’t played it so I’m not sure.

That leaves just two nations, Germany and France. Not eight.

No correlation to the argument I made.

It’s not really justified to preemptively spawn CAP to shoot down CAS that never spawns.

The issue still isn’t CAP spawn cost, it’s CAS spawning consistently.

Because AAMs are useful and dumb bombs aren’t.

the only reason I noticed it is because I wanted to spade my F/A-18D, not doing it in air since I don’t hate myself that much, and I noticed it cost about 556 SP in a 13.0 game for the default loadout

Yeah. All-aspect IRs having a cost is really dumb, especially at these higher BRs

you can be surprised by how effective bumb bombs can be

Too hard to use, apparently

The art of bomb tossing and low altitude bombing runs has been forgotten since guided bombs and missiles have become so common
