Update 2.57.1.70 (Battle Rating changes implemented)

Did you guys know you can shoot back?

It was 8.3 when it didn’t have the invisible airburst shells, of course it’s going up

Might be me. I guess that su30 took that gif too literally.

It really is. 1970s radar guided AA shouldn’t be facing WW2 props and jets.

Well, what BR would you put it to?
At 7.7 you have the next wave of radar SPAAGs in form of the PGZ88, the VEAK 40 and the Yenisei.

Atleast US could deal with it with their bombers prior to this update and IJN can still try and sink them with whitelance mod.3. But for other nations that’s pretty much it.

Idealy radar SPAAG’s should be moved up substantially as long there is BR decompression. Makes no sense that aviation in air battles caps at 14.7 (which is still isn’t enought btw) but it is still at 13.0 in ground battles. If all vehicles were moved to 14.7 it would release few BR spots to split radar SPAAG’s from prop/early jet planes.

I would agree with the idea of pushing radar SPAAGs up, if Gaijin finally gave SPAAs proper anti air scopes/sights that would help with ranging and tracking

You can be happy with some changes but it would be pretty dishonest to say they were good overall.

I would replace that with dvina and nike hercules, aa that faced early cold war aircraft and sometimes leftovers of ww2. 1 radar, 2 launchers and some autocannon shorad.

I really can’t tell if you are serious right now

I mean if we want historism and aircraft having to face aa from same era why not?
S300 or crotale at gepard brs

I can think of a couple of reasons, but the biggest one is:
Where the hell do you put them on the map?

Radar SPAA should start at 8.3 where most nations start to get ballistics computers and MCLOS missile.

Could just remove all urban 1x1 km trash from game entirely and problem will be solved mostly

Don’t even need to land the shot at that BR…

Luckily the chances of that happening are next to zero, especially after this round of BR changes that moved so many jets down in BR

M163 at 8.3 would mean that all the 8.3/8.7 SPAAGs would have to move up as well, simultanously there would be even bigger SPAA gaps

You would have died to late WW2 AA regardless. At that range and speed an Ostwind 2 would easily take you out.

there is no way to have player-controlled Nike SAMs in ground battles and still have them be within the ground map lol

Pretty much just overtiered jets, so the M163 is still fine to go up.

Yes, they are quite infamously overpowered.

Not really an issue. Late WW2 SPAA with high velocity autocannons can pull their weight well above their BR. Also, most planes that would be in an SPAA gap aren’t particularly strong so they wouldn’t cause much issue.

Of course, I just got very lucky
