Typhoon GR.4, EF-2000, F-2000A — empty mass has been reduced. Previously the empty mass included the weight of countermeasures.
EF-2000 — a bug that caused the “Targeting Optics View” control to not switch the view to the targeting pod camera has been fixed. (Report).
Typhoon GR.4, EF-2000, F-2000A — IR AAM seeker indication has been added to HUD and HMD.
Rafale C F3 — IR AAM seeker indication has been added to HUD.
Rafale C F3 — the number of datalink channels for the MICA-EM missiles has been increased to 8. (Report).
Rafale C F3 — MAWS dead zones in vertical coverage have been removed.
A bug that caused mines dropped from aircraft to slow down when approaching the water has been fixed.
A bug in Air Simulator Battles that caused some aircraft to sometimes roll backwards when spawning on airfield after rearming has been fixed. (Report).
Naval Vessels
HMS Rodney — the ship flooding system has been fixed. Now flooded bow compartments don’t critically impact the trim, so the ship’s bow doesn’t dive as much blocking the fire of main caliber guns.
Interface
A bug that sometimes caused the vehicles acquired from the “Snow globe” to be marked as already owned even if the player just got them for the first time has been fixed. (Report).
A bug that caused the vehicle search by name in “Favorite vehicle” profile showcase to not work has been fixed. (Report).
A bug that caused the Caps Lock state indicator on the login screen to differ from the actual state of the key if the Caps Lock had been switched when the game wasn’t in the focus has been fixed.
Patch notes reflect only key changes, meaning they may not include a complete list of all improvements made. Additionally, War Thunder is constantly being updated and some changes may not require an update. Changes reflected in patch notes are formed by taking reactions and requests of the community from the bug reporting service, forums and other official platforms into account. Bug fixes and changes are implemented in order of importance, for example a game-breaking bug will be worked on and implemented sooner.
Do we have any news on when the automatic switching to IR(ST) tracking will be fixed/removed. It’s really annoying since it doesn’t provide datalink for ARH missiles and completely disables SARH guidance for SARH missiles. Valve Gaijin please fix.
Oh and you can’t launch ARH missiles without a radar lock, which an IRST lock is not, either. Don’t know about realism but when I am in a RADAR BVR mode or RADAR HMS mode I expect my target lock to be of a radar kind.
Stop dumbing the game down. You are only making it more confusing for new players that have no idea why they can’t use their weapons. You are also frustrating veteran players that expect their aircraft to behave normally. No, I don’t want to go from TWS (radar mode) to IRST STT (IRST mode). Thank you very much.
Radars being broken after the 5th major is like a tradition at this point.
I just tested, the IR seeker is not visible on the Rafale HMD, @Stona_WT is it a feature exclusive to the Eurofighter or is the Rafale supposed to have it too ?
@Stona_WT I just pinged you cuz you don’t get enough already? . . .
No really, Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to you and yours & a Happy New Year.
I am glad to see when they are working on improving the game and put out these patch notes to explain things to us. I think the game’s look is better than ever and the level of work put into the game since I started 10+ years back is really astounding . . . come such a long way and many advancements.
Thank You & Keep Up the Good Work

Radars switch modes on lock IRL.
Now, whether they’re supposed to switch to IR tracking [not IR Search and Track] is probably a mistake and should be bug reported.
Yes I am sure a Su-27S will turn off its illuminator and ruin its own shot on purpose. How didn’t I think of that. Also you can absolutely maddog missiles IRL but you can’t in game. IRL IRST can most likely provide a datalink information.
I am not going to bug report anything. The issue is so easily reproducible that you notice it every single game when you play a plane with an IRST system.
Btw this isn’t a new issue. It was introduced in the first major this year.
Here’s a few ways on how I would fix this.
First method:
Make IRST and RADAR completely separate. Remove mprfToIrst and similar actions from radars. Make it so that the only way to switch between them is with a “Switch between Radar and IRST” keybind.
This would fix the current issue and go back to the way it was before Alpha Strike.
Second method:
Make this behavior depends on the currently selected weapon. If the selected weapon cannot be guided/fired in IRST don’t switch to it. This means that for IR missiles it would still work as it is right now but for radar missiles it would be as it was before. If you make ARH missiles guidable (via DL) with an IRST lock then switching to IRST is permissible.
Third method:
Add a toggle to switch between behaviors described in methods 1 and 2. And to be clear I mean a KEYBIND toggle, not a toggle in the options menu you need 5 seconds to change in the middle of the match. Add a new indicator to the HUD to display in what mode the RADAR/IRST unit is in. “AUTO” and “MANUAL” would be good. Add a switch in the options menu or in the loadout screen that selects the default behavior.
Any one of these solutions would be miles better than what we have in game right now. I would prefer the third one for extra flexibility.
This should be the case already, the IRST on these advanced jets already provide bearing, range, altitude, and aspect information, which is the exact same info provided by TWS, therefore that should be more than enough info to DL the missile towards the target, and I hesitate to say it would be too strong or broken as it provides just as little warning as TWS while having a much shorter range and Fox 3s still go active withing 16km by themselves so there would still be the same level of radar warning
Still waiting on the F-15C MSIP to get the AESA radar it should have. Same with the F-15E. France and Russia don’t need to be the only nations with it.
Surely you can wait a patch or two, it’s not like Russia and France are the only other nations in the game? Besides, you already have a perfectly good 14.0 aircraft maybe it should be China, Japan, Sweden, and Russia that see some love before the US gets a top tier upgrade.
