Update 2.43.0.105 (Battle Ratings)

Dude i regularly fly the A-10 at 2km altitude. I delibertly make myself easy to spot and people still act extremely smoothbrained against the A-10. Mig-23’s and Mig-21’s almost always try to turnfight it because they think they can go fast enough to eventually get behind the A-10 again. Hell sometimes i dont even need to fling a missile at em cuz im in gun range of em and slice em in half

Smokeless missile versus non smokeless missile… figure it out

Objectively incorrect.

I love bullying those guys. Its funny watching them just eat a missile because they thought they were safe.

Its honestly the most fun iv had in WT, because Mig mains will keep making themselves ridiculously easy kills

If you didnt the see the A-10, then it doesnt matter. You probably wouldnt see the missile launch, especially if it was fired from below or to an extreme side. I’ve gotten a load of kills do exactly that, firing from behind or below and the target never defends.

R-73 are the superior missile to Aim-9M most of the time. Aim-9M are just Aim-9Ls with a smokeless motor and a seeker that switches off when it sees a flare. If anything, Aim-9M are easier to defeat than R-73s quite often, it just requires knowing how to defend.

But go ahead. Claim that the R-73, a very potent IRCCM missile, on an arguably more annoying/powerful ground attack aircraft is fine, but the A-10C is OP because… smokeless motor?

(God I cant wait for ASRAAM)

My favourite is flying the Phantom FGR2 at 20k ft and just watch them climb to fight me, only to eat a Skyflash before they even get into range to use an R-24R. If they stuck low, they could probably multipath every missile, but htey climb everytime

(even funnier when they try it whilst im in the Torando F3)

honestly the only thing i canreally say that can make the Aim-9M strong on the A-10C is when you are also using the targetting pod, lets you easily see people at long distance and at closer ranges lock em with the pod. All this does tho is just let you track em on your gunsight like radar lock does for some stuff and does not let you fling the 9M off boresight unless you use HMD

Yeah, thats a handy trick on a lot of aircraft. but will be a far mor effective tactic when Aim-9Ms have their IRL lock ranges. They are currently about half what they should be. Quite often I find myself waiting for an Aim-9M to get a lock despite my radar telling me the target is well within range and rapidly approaching the LSZ. Its very annoying.

handy trick that really only works on clear weather matches. Any low flying clouds and the targetting pod loses lock. Extra lock range on the 9M tbh wouldnt help the A-10C much, mostly because its coming off the rail extremely slowly compared to other 9M platforms

Yeah, its my main method of finding targets in the Harrier Gr7 (at 12.7 with only a gen 1 tpod)

and yeah, but every little helps. might not get the full range like I would in an F3 or Typhoon, but I still find in slower aircraft like the Gr7 im sat there twiddling my thumbs waiting for tone

yeah fair

I will say tho. I dont like killing Tornads with the A-10C, mostly because they play like they turned their monitors off. Theres no sport in killing them because its the most free kill in the world

Yeah… I had this the other day in the F3. enemy team was mostly WTD61s flying at about 5k ft and their defence was to just drop CMs but didnt even attempt to move. So I just farmed kills.

I like it when an aircraft actually puts up a bit of a fight, makes me work for the kill

Sometimes i think they fly with ground radar turned on, because iv flown right in front of em with the A-10C, got a ping on my RWR, and they do zero manuevers as im getting within missile range

Lol, if they are flying with their radar on all the time they deserve it 🤣 I have the WTD61 and one of the first things I do when spawning in is turn that thing off. Sometimes use it for a moment to get the increased view/render distance, but I never leave it on. And I actually look around to see if something is trying to close on me.

them having their radar on is the exact way im able to even find em with the A-10C, makes it easy to point their direction and find their exact spot with the targetting pod

I think msot reckon the radar on the WTD61 is for finding air targets which is rather funny. Its only for naval targets, which is wierd because its disabled on all other Torandos except the MFG which has ASMs

Yeah lol. WELL the AIM-9L’s will slave to a radar lock, but I use acquire mode for that 99% of the time anyway. Searching is damn near pointless in the WTD61.

maybe the WTD61 is a copy and paste of the MFG but without the ASM missiles and they completely forgot to change the radar

Agreed. I’m currently playing/spading a lot of 9.7 – 10.3 planes and the A-7s are complete busses and their BR does not properly reflect the (antiquated) game design of ARB. It’s a classic example of a plane which is not played enough in ARB (because of it’s BR) and thus does not die / score poorly enough for the great and powerful OZ to be able to apply whatever garbage algorithm they cooked up to reduce the BR.
