I did not like the new sounds, they took me out of immersion, they seemed of low quality, although I like the idea of the particular sounds of the caliber etc, these sounds at least in my opinion seemed disjointed, if they were in harmony with the game ( as realistic as possible) I give my positive vote.
It’s strange because war thunder in general has a very high sound quality, maybe my criteria is wrong and they really sound like that in real life, but who has access to the sounds in real life?
At the moment, only my intuition tells me that something in those sounds is not right, but the idea is good.
Not going to lie, I believe those sounds were pretty good and added a nice fresh bit of air to the game. The sound of hearing of 40mm shells from a M247, fly over my vehicle, was an incredible sound. If anything, please put up a poll for us to vote on the sound changes again. I truly believe more people enjoyed the new sounds than were against it. The only rework of the new sounds that needed to be done, in my opinion, was just the sound balance and the way sound was heard from a distance.
I usually don’t comment on the forums but I really wanted to give my thoughts on it since sound design is super important to me when playing War Thunder and can really get you immersed.
Love the new sounds, Can’t we have a vote how wants new sounds and how doesn’t? A lot of players love the new sounds. News flash it’s a tank game, we shoot metal bullets’ against other tanks, Metal to metal. Most of them complaining have never shot a gun at range on targets before.
Please make a vote, I want the new sounds. #Votefornewsound
I can only speak for prop gameplay in Air RB - the new sound was (to be polite) not really helpful for air battles, there was imho no real difference between close nearby shots and shoots of some ai planes a few hundred meters away.
Despite i was not active in WW2 - and nobody shot at me there - i have no clue why you are still lightyears away from awesome sounds available 20 years ago provided in the very first IL2 Sturmovik game from 2001.
and created a very detailed suggestion. Unfortunately the suggestion was deleted by your tech mods. No feedback, nothing…
Seeing overwhelmingly positive feedback from fellow tank players you seem to be on the right track, so why not consider different approaches for air and ground ammo/ bullets.
I have zero clue why Il2 reverted their sound with IL2 Forgotten Battles update and never returned to the original sound - the only comprehensible reason might be that their game engine was unable to handle it in larger battles lobbies.
To make this clear - you could distinguish between different caliber rounds just by the sound, 30 mm sounded like very angry hornets, 7,92 like a swarm of even more angry wasps - awesome!!!
Go into your basement, grab an old pc and try it, if you have no game cd - I will donate mine - if i find it in my basement.
I came up with an idea. Currently, there is a function in the game to display the contents of updates and patches. How about adding a feature that can determine patch evaluation? Casual players don’t often look at forums, so I think both Gaijin and players would be happy if there was an in-game aggregation feature.
