Unplayable F-16AJ

And what would you do against anything that isn’t a harrier? Try to chase them down? If they can’t kill you before merging, they would be stupid to turn around instead of disengaging.

In a 1v1 yeah, the F-16A can have some control, but in a team deathmatch you are just bait for your teammates.

Well most of the match would be ratting around. If they’re one of few remaining jets I can force 1v1 or ambush them on their RTB.

At the end of the day that’s how most dogfighters/IR slingers are. Even at 10.7, most F-5s’ presence comes down to ratting with their limited missiles or forcing a dogfight, missile slingers like crusaders have more overall presence. They’re good in a downtier and gets bodied in an uptier since you can’t see R-24Rs on your rwr at all.

Yes, this mm sucks. Is it unique to the AJ? Nah. I’ll just pray for decompression. Afterall, if one’s house is on fire, you don’t pour in diesel.

You can’t really force a 1v1 against fox1/fox3 slingers that keep altitude advantage and have no consequence of showing their rear to you because aim9L’s are useless for that.

Some of these jets have tracking-suspension IRCCM missiles that have a decent chance of killing you when you are trying to notch the incomming fox3/fox1.

Things like flankers have FM’s that are almost as good and since they force you into a defensive position right away, they have an easier time even if they need to gun you down.

It is expected to 13.0’s to have a easy time against a 12.3 jet, especially with the current BR compression, but even the 12.3 jets that are not overtiered attackers are quite comfortable approaching you and ditch out if they fail, and in a 1v1 they can just keep at altitude and negate yours, or make you notch.

Any gen 3 arh carrier has worse fm than you and could be exploited. The altitude advantage is not something only they can use.

Won’t deny that. Which is why securing positional advantage to reduce this from happening is paramount.

I did say flankers are the real threat of 13.0s.

Again, my takeaway is that in a downtier, F-16A/AJ can body the competition. In an uptier it gets bodied. The solution to that is raising the ceiling, not moving it down further so other jets that has no business being bodied now gets bodied by them.

Because what is an F-5E going to do to you? You can’t force 1v1 because he’s the better airframe. He has the better radar and rwr for better situational awareness. The same issue you see in A/AJs now is applicable to other jets when you move them down. That’s what compression does.

Not all. F-4J F-4S and Mig-23MLD are better jets. In the case of the MiG-23 MLD you can’t even catch him if he messes up in a 1v1

actually you can put fires out with diesel fuel since it has such a high flash point, it would be rather expensive at the moment though

For one, you can defend against 4J/4S by going cold. 23MLD you can pre chaff at medium altitude (F-15A is literally the predator on these guys)

Also, you can catch an MLD… because your TWR beats his by a mile.

Blue is wings in, green is wings out.

Unless MLD is already going way past mach, you can catch him. Especially if he is disengaging your 1v1.

As if the F-15s weren’t undertiered at 12.7

Hello higher TWR, meet higher supersonic drag

Idk why you’re bringing undertier in when I mentioned it as an example.

Hello supersonic drag, meet being subsonic after leaving a 1v1

If the mig-23 decides to do an 180 turn and give up and then run away in a straight lin, there is still no chance you can catch up in the F-16A, when the 9L won’t even give him a sweat.

Also the MLD has a good chance of being a rat himself with the IRST if he catches the target on radar first

Buddy if he does the 180 he’s well below the speed where his accel is better than yours. Also

This is an acceleration graph. Drag is taken into account. So unless MLD is over
image
You’ll catch.

And if his wings are out at all, you’ll catch at any speed (you can see by the green line).

This is like 1 out of 20-30 MLD players. The average ML/MLD are not this bright.

But the F-16 won’t be exactly behind him in the first place, because he is also obviously turning either in a 2C or a slower 1C. The mig-23MLD can disengage whenever, unless he really lets you get behind him before realising that ditching out is the better idea.

Lets say both jets are in opposite sides of a rate fight at 700-800kph, the F-16A is obviously winning position because of the rate advantage, but if the MLD has any clue that you committed to dogfighting him, he can just ditch out at will, and flare your 9L’s in rear aspect without even having to cut afterburner (Phantoms would need to)

Again, if he held his speed yes. If it drops below
image
at any time, you’ll catch.

Last i checked, 1400 is wayyyyy higher than 800, the speed he’d be in when he ditches the fight, as you say. Don’t mistake max speed as the ability to regain such speed.

Even mig-25s struggle to shake off mig-21s when they drop below a certain speed.

No you won’t. Do you think both jets are daisy-chained in a dogfight or something? they can have 1km+ separation when turning agaisnt each other early dogfight and when the mig-23 ditches out he will usually be at 1.5km+ before you start the chase, and at that point he will already be faster, as soon as you both reach mach 1, you can’t even gain distance

That distance isn’t much separation.

And he’s at 800 IAS, at the moment where your TWR is at its strongest.

1400 is beyond mach 1 (around 1200 sea level)

I don’t know how you think mig-23 would be faster than you when he ditches out when he literally accelerates worse than you in every speed regime below like mach 1.2

Like at the moment where he ditches
He is at low speed
His engines are at its worse possible speed (compared to yours, which are optimized for this speed)
HIs wings are out (needs to be swept back to reduce drag)
His turn rate is worse than you, and you can regain on his tail in a dime

It is enough when both of you have the nose pointing in different directions

image

Again, you won’t have your nose inside his engine, you guys will have enough separation to your acceleration advantage to be irrelevant till he gets to above mach 1.2 or something where he gains distance on you regardless

Not when F-16A has 50% more acceleration than you at this speed. 50%

This is like trying to outrun an ariete after disengaging in the F-100. Sure, you have higher max speed and high speed thrust

But at the moment of disengagement, it is ariete’s playing field. I’ve seen one gain on me at 900IAS.

This is nonsense. Now I see why you think you could catch up on the mig-23mld

nonsense when statshark graph right there. I’m sorry, the best dogfighter of its BR, struggling in the acceleration against a 3rd gen MLD below mach? Nonsense.

Because statshark is also often nonsense for the most complex graphs, like E-M, etc.

The F-16 would need to be in a shallow dive to reach 13m/s^2 acceleration
