I think that I can sort of understand the increase in BR, in comparison to other vehicles at 9.7 it is generally better.
(Compare it to a leopard 1a5 or m60)
Though I don’t think the nerf was exactly needed, as it’s a pretty easily countered vehicle. Though at the same time, the T-64A is overtiered.
I think the T-64A should get the 1000 HP engine and be renamed T-64AM (would come with some other improvements to make it like T-72A)
It has a very strong armor scheme, unlike the earlier T-64A/T-72A, meaning it can and will bounce early darts like 105mm DM33 outside of it’s smallish weakspots.
It gets a very strong dart of it’s own, getting 3BM42 at a (previously) stupidly low BR, which is still the second strongest round available at 10.0 (Forgot about the M60 AMBT).
Plus it’s still playing at a BR where it’s 7.1 second autoloader is more of an advantage than a disadvantage, since it’s commonly playing against tanks with an 8.7 second base reload, which it comfortably beats unless the enemy has a high level crew.
It wasn’t exactly BMPT levels of stupidly OP, but it was easily the best 9.7 tank, and will do just fine at 10.0.

It has the same weakspots as every other russian MBT except darts can and will just go straight through the UFP at the same BR as it, and darts above it will not notice the armor at all. This was when it was 9.7.
Having good ammo is well and good, but the reload is 7.1 second minimum and with a lack of ability to always exercise your firepower due to poor gun handling/depression.
I understand what you’re saying, but matchmaking is not going to downtier you all day and the higher BR tanks you will see more often will out-reload you.
This is not because it was strong, but because there was nobody else competing. 9.7 was and is a dead bracket. The only other tank there is the AMX-32 and I’d sincerely take it over the T-64B anyday.
The armor has been reduced to a much lower standard of effectiveness at the BR with the likes of the Leo2K, AMX-40, etc it at its own BR while it lacks in all other categories such as gun handling/traverse/depression/mobility/optics to make up for it.

As you pointed out, there was only one other 9.7 MBT, and that can only UFP the T-64B at point blank range, and if it’s completely unangled.
7.1 seconds is completely adequate for the BR (You only start seeing swarms of Leopard 2s and Abrams in a almost full uptier at 10.7). Everything else you face, unless they’ve aced their crew, you will outreload.
The poor gun handling is an issue, but one you should be used to at this point. You should have learned where the flat terrain you can use is.
Which is why I mostly played my T-64B in downtiers. The 9.7 lineup wasn’t huge, but it had a wide variety of alternatives for uptiers. The Khris works regardless of tier, the BMD/BMP-3 is similarly BR agnostic, the Sprut get 3BM42 at an even stupider BR, etc. And now at 10.0, you get the Sprut-M, with 3BM60 at a stupidly low BR.
I wouldn’t. The 32 has advantages in mobility and gun depression. Surprisingly, they have similar turret traverse speed. However, the T-64B has a noticably better round, a faster reload unless you’ve aced the AMX-32’s crew, and enough armor to troll lower BR’d vehicles in downtiers. They fill different niches, but I would consider the T-64B stronger when played to it’s strengths, than the 32 is when played flexibly.
It will still troll 9.0/9.3 guns in a downtier, it just won’t get to drive over 8.7s (Some of whom are still reliant on first generation darts) with impunity anymore.
Just play it like any other armor reliant tank, in downtiers preferentially.

This only matters if it hits a breakpoint. The most common breakpoints required are for shooting at USSR tanks.

It’s not just breakpoints that matter for APDS/APFSDS. More pen means more spall is created when penetrating the same thickness of armor. It’s part of why 3BM25/M735 are such poor rounds, it’s not just that they’ll sometimes struggle to pen, it’s that you’ll need followup shots more often.
Combined with the improved performance against angles, meaning you can punish people who show just a little too much side armor, 3BM42 is just a very comfortable round to use at the tier, you can lolpen pretty much anything and almost never need followup shots.

Now that it has a 6.0 sec reload, it is now fine at 10.0, just got moved a couple of days early it seems.
Will the T64A stay at 9.3, probably not now however, I can see the T72As and t64A moving to 9.7

The T64A have awefull gun handling, turret is slow AF, no reverse, no thermals, no lrf and okay-ish armor but everything will outmanoeuver you and flank you anyways. Also no roof MG either.
9.3 has the olifant mk2 that is better in every metrics

They’re fine in 9.3 and yeah they fight 8.3 once in a fullmoon but the same logic can be applied between 8.3 and 7.3 and 6.3 and 5.3, etc…
The uptiers/downtiers are a problem in the game, though we could use a massive decompression of the tree with br up to like 16.0-17.0 to lower the power creep of certain vehicles at certain br’s.
