Hello Everyone this is the United Korea plus any sub tree ideas Part of the Infantry form here we talk about anything related to a possible Korea infantry tree (future or current) Have Fun!

With Korea not really being part of the game outside of a handful of export munitions this is to talk about the potential development of a Infantry tree for them as Korea is a popular topic for ground and air so why not infantry? There is a possibility of a sub tree which people can talk about so I will introduce you to SEATO a interesting cold war relic (Asian N.A.T.O.) that went defunct after the Vietnam war ended.

What was SEATO?

Southeast Asia Treaty Organization - Wikipedia

SEATO was a security / economic pact started in September 1954 in Manila, Philippines. The idea developed by the USA was to counter China and USSR in Asia by making a security pact. Unlike NATO which has the famous article 5 SEATO had no such thing as there nations where to agree to act against the common danger (basically act however you feel like). SEATO would be a corner stone to USA involvement in the Vietnam war as South Vietnam was a protocol state after the Vietnam War SEATO would collapse because it failed to do any of its goals.

South Korea though not a member they where pro SEATO and benefited from its existence they would also support SEATO operations in Vietnam. One of the geopolitical objectives of SEATO was to an extent get South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan linked but this never went anywhere. SEATO would fail due to its own contradictions.

Having a Partial SEATO sub tree (some nations are already sub tree in Japan) would also include North Vietnam / Socialist Republic of Vietnam as a sub tree to compliment there south Vietnam sub tree but also including the Philippines and others into the tree.

The Partial sub tree

  • Vietnam (North / South & Post War)
  • Cambodia
  • Laos
  • Philippines

Depend of era / discussion

  • Australia / Papua New Guinea
  • New Zealand

Concerning North Korea
North Korea has a highly advanced infantry connection with plentiful additions in the form of domestic weapons and imports just as there southern sister. North Korea was also important in the cold war sending support to North Vietnam in the form of weapons.

If you see want to post any infantry related equipment feel free to post as this form is meant to collect ideas! If you have any ideas for a possible sub tree for Korea concerning infantry add it in!

South Korea also send around a total of 300.000 Troops into Vietnam during the Cold War. Didn’t really make themself popular…

I think Vietnam makes more sense as a Subtree for China; China has been a larger supporter of North Vietnam than North Korea was during Vietnam War by a long shot. Has been part of China for most of its History too

Bit of a mess concerning the two (mods wont like us talking about it) USSR / Russia had better relationship with Vietnam as even post war USSR kept selling weapons China stopped second South Vietnam fell. To keep it simple a Indochina Block plus Philippines would be a great United Korea Sub Tree. (Philippines because of South Korea relationship and a bulk of the former South Vietnam equipment went) Vietnam now just has a great economic relationship with everyone.

Turkey could also be a sub tree, as it has developed the altay tank along with other vehicles with south korea. It would get 3 different altay tanks, 1 turkish 8x8 ifv, m60 ambt, so it could be a great sub tree

Who knows but overall this is a general Korea Infantry discussion plus a sub tree as from what I see United Korea has a lot but by goddess there are gaps. Early infantry related equipment is going to be a issue with Korea / infantry vehicles as its a lot of Soviet stuff for the north and American stuff for the south with a sprinkling of old empire of Japan. There was a set of Korean uniforms just independence which was basically IJA and IJN equipment with new emblems. I will try to find images. There is also the Korean Independence army and the communists pre 1945 with there own uniform or no uniform at all. (would be great to have a saboteur / partisan squad)
