Unfair BR on the Example of Russian Tanks

Hello,
While playing with Russian tanks at high battle ratings, I’ve noticed an issue with BR balance depending on the installed modifications. For example, after unlocking the T-72B3 at 11.7, it is completely useless until you research better ammunition and the laser rangefinder, which takes quite some time. The BR should be lowered, for instance, to 11.0 and then increased depending on the installed modifications. For example: the T-72B3 without any modifications should have a BR of 11.0, after unlocking the rangefinder or better ammunition it should be 11.3, and after unlocking most modifications, it should reach 11.7. Playing a tank without good ammunition and a laser rangefinder at such a high BR makes no sense and provides no enjoyment.
Best regards.

This is the case for almost all nations at higher BR’s.
Modification based BR has been discussed quite a bit on the forum and there are already other threads you can use for that (Personally, i think it would be to large of a change and require way to much work for it to be worth it in the end).

Welcome to mbt grinding.

You really dont need it unless you are firing at very long ranges. Modern rounds have such a high velocity that you dont need to adjust too much to hit at range.

lol While I played T-72B3 back when its max ammo was 3BM44/M, it was not hard. HEATFS uses many of the same weakspots as APFSDS: Turret rings, idler wheels, etc.

I got training with assault arcade, to the point where with 105mm HEATFS I was top of the team in assault arcade against what is today 12.0 tanks… against the Soviet AI.

HEATFS just lowers your options, it doesn’t eliminate them.

This is a critique of the modification system.

HEAT-FS is an absolutely horrid and miserable round all around in War Thunder. Most top tier tanks get it, because they’d really like you to shell out some money to get APFSDS.

Either you force yourself through the grind, or pay up. That Alvis defends it shows you just how bad it is.

T-72B3 is the absolute worst example of top tier stock grinding; forget APFSDS at rank I, LRF and Thermals at rank II, it’s the UBH mod at rank IV when it starts to resemble an 11.0+ MBT.

a completely stock T-72B3 would be 10.3 at most.

Every nation and every tank at that tier has the same problem. Its not limited to russian tanks

So because I’m defending APFSDS and criticizing the modifications system… your post is claiming that APFSDS is bad?
You post comes in defending the modification system by being annoyed that someone critiqued it.
Also I’ve never paid for rounds in War Thunder and never will.

Or they just make it 11.3

When I spade it, most people hit the center of the UFP instead of trying to aim at all (USA players).

But those who did aim always 1 hit K/o’d the tank.

The exact opposite, the problem is stock HEATFS. Which you are defending.

I at no point defended anything other than APFSDS.
I explained the facts and that’s primarily it; and in the past I’ve shown my partial disagreement with the weapons modifications system.

I agree but they do this on purpose to frustrate players into purchasing the modules, it’s even worse for other nations, some don’t even get apfsds or rangefinder until 3/4 tier

The module system and how grindy it is, is one super annoying aspect of War Thunder. High tier module grinds are truly horrendous and some tanks don’t come into their own until you have loads of important mods, costing tens of thousands of RP each.

I really don’t mind the grind for vehicles, but the module grind is truly abysmal.

Russian top tier MBTs will always be a bad option, but the module researching is not exclusive. Be glad to research modules is a optional thing.
