Un-realistic overperformance from M-51 (Israel)

I guess, technically, it could. I could only find info of it being used in 1956 during the Suez crisis and no info after that.

Well, it was trash even in WWII, so, does it change anything? xd

Many WW2 tanks are also out of BR according to dates. Historical MM wise, I would have Pz IV H, Puma and Tiger II P in the same lineup and BR.

People don’t understand that WT simply does not have the complexity and combined arms required to make a system like that work. BR based on performance is much easier.

Same calibre, but it’s not the same gun. But yeah. I personally love it, but it’s no coincidence that I compared the M-51 to the Dicker Max. These one dimensional vehicles usually either do wonderfully or have a bad match, no in between. They’re specialists, not jacks of all trades.

It’s not the same, but at that BR, it does not matter.

Exactly. You can have a good game in any tank. What’s different, is the frequency at which you get those games.
For example i had a 14 kill 0 death match in the chinese PT-76. It is a bad tank, yet sometimes you can pull it off.
Or a 14 kill 1 death match with a stock M48 at full uptier…

With that MM, the USSR would have a 90% win rate in WWII MM, because they have things, such as IS-3, IS-4, IS-6, T-44 (all variants).
If we take prototypes into account, then, even the IS-7…

I mean, other WWII tanks are good, they just can’t take on those soviet tanks.

And, if the historical MM also includes teams, such as Germany, Italy, Japan only fighting allies, then the Allied team would have a basically 100% win rate, if we take into account such things, as T95, T29, T30, T34…

And you can tell them all these things, that would make it unplayable, yet they still don’t get it.
It’s like the crying about “russian bias”, it is present from the start of the game, and never will go away, no matter what you do.

It has the same gun off of the AMX-30, so no, 400mm is not incorrect or inconsistent.

The M-51 is slower than a King Tiger AND has a Sherman hull. It’s a tank destroyer roleplaying as a medium tank.

It is not Overpowered. Get over it.

We’re not doing historical matchmaking so your German Tiger can fight 3.7 Shermans.

Something seems off with this gun. Twice I’ve been hit by an HEAT shot at the very end of the barrel and it still over pressures my tank even with 200mm of frontal armor.

The M-51 really should be at a higher BR than it is. It claps IS-3s and King Tigers like they’re nothing and can pen them anywhere no matter how angled.

And they can rather easily clap it back, with a much more stable gun and far more effective postpen? I fail to see any problem other than PEBKAC here…

Let me guess… German main that is mad something can pen his tank?

That’s pretty normal for glass cannon tank destroyers. Sturer Emil sends heavies of multiple BRs straight to the shadow realm. It’s the rest of the vehicle that puts it at 4.3.

Feels weird with people with <1 kd/s flinging insults. lol

Also, I’m a Soviet main. >:)

Everyone knows the Sturer Emil and Dickermax are undertiered so its not a good analogy. I have the SU-85A (for example) and it’s a 4.0 tank with an 85mm gun, literally zero gun depression, and no armor. The no gun depression makes this tank pretty much useless compared to the German tds with -15 degrees of gun depression that can hull down behind hills.

The M-51 feels out of place though for a 6.0 tank with way over performing 400mm pen HEAT rounds. It should at least be 6.3-6.7 if anything. Also, since it’s a reserve tank you usually have to face 3 of these in a row.

Paper tanks, I have no personal issues with them though. As for the others, that is because they are classified. As for the ammo, that’s because they are in the same era of vehicles, however, the German DM12 is fin stabilized, so it has less of a chance to non-pen. The gun and the armor, and the mobility play into BR, for example the IKV 103, no armor, with HEAT-FS at 4.0.

Whats funny to me is people really took your comparison to the leo as an actual compaprison and not an example as in hey “the leo has 400mm at 8.0” so why it isnt it 8.0? I get what your saying. This tank is not properly balenced at all at 6.0 but its a glass cannon and a premium one and one thing about gaijins money they want it for idiots who will see 400mm at 6.0 and thats exactly why people buy it. Thinking they are about to get a great tank and they dont. The gun on this tank moves like a chippendales ding dong in vegas shaking it for the ladies. But yes thiers no way this gun and shell have 400mm at any degree now 350 is more like it and maybe even lower. Its a very slow round as well because of what type of heat shell it is. You obviously died to one recently and i get it it makes no sense when your playing your t32 or t26e1 and this little sherman blasts you into obvlioin but its war thunder and they have yet to balence any aspect of this game. They have the vidar at 8.0 with a lrf and gen 2 thermals with the best HE round in the game. In the right hands you can get nukes every match but they wont up it because they want noobs to buy it to get the edge at 8.0 or thinking they are getting the edge. Also dont mind the A-holes in here most of them get no pu××y and have no lives and are angry about thier fathers leaving them when they were young so they are toxic and angry and have nothing lissitive to say. Good day mate and goodluck on yojr quest

Lol. Perhaps even lmao.

Well the panther 2 isn’t really a paper tank but the one in game is not real

The hull only was built, many different designs of the turret was made, all of them being a basic schmallturm with an extended bulge to fit the bigger breech. Nothing came of it though because of the fact they figured out that they can fix the side issues with schurzen. The in game turret is not the ones.

If I had a dollar for every thread made complaining about the M-51…

So, what is the real pen of it? If that velocity chart was supposed to explain penetration, I feel bad for you. Do you know how shaped charges work?

To give it a bit of understanding the AMX-30B2 uses the same shell at 8.7, it has more armor, much faster, lower profile, commanders independent optics, and a Laser range finder. I feel it’s placed well, everything can penetrate and usually one shot it, it can penetrate everything else.

As does the AMX-30 at 8.0. A very iffy shell at best. When it works it is amazing, otherwise it leaves me scratching my head at times.

The HEAT in general do not work correctly, it seems that they have an RNG, and that they do random damage. You can perfectly shoot at an enemy and it can pierce and do a lot of damage, or it can pierce and only kill a single crew member, or pierce and that a module absorbs all the damage, or the bullet directly detonates and does no internal damage, and all this hitting the same point and with the same angle.

Yeah, I’ve found ATGM’s usually have better post pen effect using a HEAT charge, most of the time I get random over pressures with them.
