I am not sure the rounds @Yontzee suggested were ever deployed in Ukraine. I hope he proves me wrong and they actually were, but if they weren’t, why not use more domestic option, especially if it can turn out to be better than that of foreign?
If only Oplot and T-64 series tanks were re-bored to 120mm rounds, they would have been so funny given what rounds Ukraine uses right now…
Eh no dawg, BTA4 was both purchased and used by Thai army, and it makes no sense for Thai army to use two tanks with same calibre guns use non-interchangeable ammo.
Czech/Slovakian/Polish ammo however is slightly different subject
Remember, I said “a” top predator leaving the door open for other Ukrainian vehicles as well ;) I do agree though, the Yatagan and the T-72-120 are going to be up there as well rolling with DM53, etc.
I’m always on the hunt to find them. I’m sure something along those lines made it to Ukraine, even maybe rounds from Mecar or Elbit System’s. More likely from Mecar tbh but we’ll see.
I saw a comment in this or another discussion about the separate placement of CIS countries within the USSR, something like Soviet equipment being available to everyone and progressing both in Russia and in Kazakhstan with Ukraine, while the equipment of those countries progresses separately or something like that. The question is whether it’s possible to mention this or use it as an argument when debating with people who believe that Ukraine should be a sub-branch of the USSR, or with those who think that Ukrainian equipment is not enough for a separate nation.
(there was also a photo of what it might have looked like)
The fact that Ukraine is currently in a war with Russia, using tanks, parts, planes, weapon systems, from many countries means it will become a China Tech Tree but worse.
“Unmanned, fully automated remote-controlled AGM (Artillery Gun Module)”
“Increased protection for the crew by separating the crew compartment and operator stations from ammunition stowage”
“the unmanned AGM[Artillery Gun Module]”
The turret is unmanned, the crew consists of a driver and a commander/gunner.
“2-person crew in armoured BOXER drive module”
AFAIK operationally the gun would be sent commands from the battery HQ that the commander authorises, although the commander can take over to aim the gun for direct fire.
“Fire control computer with integrated ballistics calculation and radio data transmission to an artillery control system of customers choice”
There’s even plans for a completely remote control mode.
“Due to its network-based system architecture, the RCH 155 will also be capable of future fully autonomous driving and firing.”
Appears to be stabilised as well? It’s advertised as having firing on the move, and at 1:18 in the video at the bottom of the previously mentioned page there’s a fire on the move demonstration where the gun seems extremely stable.
