Please note that I am trying to spread awareness of this so that it can be fixed before it becomes an actual legal issue and will be linking my bug report for this below
And after some people decided to try to argue that historical recreations are an exception, I will ask that you please read the documentation provided in the bug report before saying something.
It is NOT censorship it is actually due to the Geneva Convention signed after the First World War in order to differentiate between civilian/Military medical workers and active military units
You have it the wrong way around… Gaijin is recreating the actual cockpit layout of the helicopter as it existed in real life… they did not put the symbols there, the people who outfitted the original aircraft did…
Now, why don’t you take a time-machine back to the 1960s, march into Bell helicopter HQ and chastise them for “violating international law”
you misunderstand just using the symbol without official permission from the Red Cross regardless of why is a violation, to fix it they would just have to change the coloring of the symbol to have an olive drab background or something like that
technically yes, unless (possibly not certain) its used under the permission of the US government as they are one of the 3 groups that can use the symbol in the US the others being Johnson and Johnson (due to a very specific exception) and the Red Cross themself.
Last I checked, AMONG US is not portraying historical or real-life events, they didn’t have to include a red cross symbol for health, they have the artistic freedom to make any other symbol of their choosing, and they did afterwards.
No, they got in trouble for just displaying the symbol, even if it’s for historical accuracy 99% of the time it still can’t be used if you had actually read the documents you would find that what you think is an exception is not an exception under US law and the Geneva convention
Often those arnt replicas and are actually restored items and are funded by the government, meaning they are technically (in the us, anyway) being used by the government
if they change it before the Red Cross discovers it, then it would be fine ( and prevent it from becoming a legal issue). All they would have to do is change the white background to a different color. The main issue is that it’s using a Red Cross on a white background. You would understand that if you read the documents in their entirety.
