That’s quite interesting. Usually it is the other way around
This is due to cost differences. This post is about a low-cost product.
they likely went with the cheap short-range MANPADS because the FB-10A (the missile that Export uses) reaches ranges that are handled by HQ-17s and such
Thanks to the help of @战狼独修以为天下无敌后被各系暴打 the official name of the vehicle should be PLB625 while the export version is PLB625E.
Correct me if I’m wrong, I’m guessing…
P: Artillery (Paobing)
L: Wheeled (Lún shì)
B: Infantry (Bubing zhan che)?
No idea about the B, the only thing I can think of is Bubing zhan che which essentially is “Infantry” but Artillery, Wheeled, Infantry doesn’t make much sense to me unless they’re meaning infantry support vehicle/multi-purpose vehicle. @乌拉尔
I think “B” stands for Escort Air Defense, because the PLB625 is a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun. If “B” is regarded as the abbreviation of the Chinese pinyin for “infantry”, it doesn’t match the vehicle’s positioning. However, the pinyin abbreviation of “Escort Air Defense” in Chinese is also “B”, and it aligns with the vehicle’s positioning. Therefore, I believe “B” refers to Escort Air Defense (Ban sui fang kong).
I’m thinking it’s this too, the name PLB625 was also given for a display of it.
I’ve occasionally seen the name “PGL625” as well, like in this ROCA analysis. However, I’m thinking this might be a mistake made by assuming it will use the same designation as the PGL12 since both are wheeled anti-aircraft vehicles.
You’re good, I was just seeing if you had inputs for the “PLB” or had further info.
Oh,I actually don’t know what B stands for.Maybe for Bubing or Bansui(accompany)
Of course the PLA has to make it so even the name of the vehicle is unclear
The name is clear, but…a bit too much
When was this model exhibited
Maybe it is 10.7 or 11.0?
